Not Receiving all Text Messages

I've had my Droid Incredible for almost a year with no problems...that I was aware of.

 

I've had several friends ask why I haven't responded to their texts and I just assumed that they had thought that they had sent me messages and hadn't actually done so.  Last week I was with a friend and we got separated, she sent me a text.  I never got it.  When we found each other she showed me her phone and even pulled up the message details so that I could see it was clearly sent from her phone.


I've called Verizon and they said there was no known issues with the Incredible doing this.  I'm beyond frustrated as text messaging is my main use of the phone (and my main way to communicate with my friends/family when we aren't together).  Verizon says there is nothing they can do to fix this.


Has anyone else experienced this?  Just intermittent text messages never arriving on your phone?  It doesn't happen all the time or from just certain specific people.  There's no way of knowing if I'm missing a message.  Any help would be appreciated!

There are a lot of elements in a text messaging situation on a Droid Incredible, and I'm here to help.  There are a few questions I have for you to ensure we are on the right path.  1) Do the text messages eventually come through (with a huge delay)?  2) Have we tried some standard steps such as dialing *228 send > option 1 or pulling the battery? 3) Are you using any 3rd party text messaging software such as Handscent? 4) Any problems sending, or is it just receiving?

I am having a similar problem.  I have taken out the battery, waiting 10 minutes, and the problem persists.  I have dialed *228 option 1 and option 2.  I dont have handscent or any other messaging apps turned on.  i deleted all apps except the apps that were preinstalled on the phone.  Still, the text messages do not work.  I went to the store and was told they couldnt fix it.  I do not have sending just receiving.   the funny part is we can text for two -three minutes and then nothing.  No more texts will come through for an extended period of time.  Weeks at a time.

I had the same problem. I was told by a Verizon rep to make sure I turn the phone off about once a day, for about 2 minutes. I've been doing that, and haven't had a problem since.

How do I private message? I called tech support and he did something but it still did not consistently work. He said it was because I am a prepaid customer. I'm debating signing a two year contract because of this issue.

Copy the name of the rep you want to send a message to, click on the Messaging icon in the uppper right corner of this forum, and select Compose New Message (last gray tab) and then paste the rep's name in there.

I am also having this issue with my HTC incredible. It is very frusterating. I am not sure how to PM tech support either.

I was told by verizon customer service that my problem was probably due to me being a prepaid customer because they haven't had any issues with htc incredible.  He did reset it and it worked for a day.  However, it started not receiving texts again.

To PM a community member, simply double click on their handle and on the right side of the page will be an option that reads "Send this user a private message". This is where you can send a Private Message to particular user.

Did you ever get your phone fixed?  My incredible isn't receiving any text message!!  It received a big update and that was it!  No more messages.

No, they said it was messing up because I was a prepaid customer.

I am having the same issue. I am no longer recieving texts and its been 4 days. I have called verizon and havent had any luck. They told me to call #228 and press option 2 which didnt do anything to help my phone. I have been researching all day and all i have found out is the new OS completely screwed up the Droid Incredibles and Verzion doesnt seem to know how to fix it.

This is so fustrating!

They said my problems were due to being a prepaid customer.  They said the prepaid network is not good.

I had this problem and call to tech support and they said that it was because of the update you stopped receiving text... I went through a battery of test and waiting to find this out... They was going to update me to droid inc2 but because my screen is cracked I have to file and insurance claim and the get a new droid Inc 1 then send that one in for a inc2.... I don't have the money to file the insurance claim and so know IM stuck with no text.... Just a FYI for you guys maybe call tech support and they might upgrade you. Thanks Dave

I have been unable to receive messages for the past 48 hours, tech support claims that this issue is a priority and has been affecting incredible users. I'm getting upset because it has been a great inconvenience for me.
