Husbands phone powered off because of low battery but it was plugged in all night. Now we have it connected to a charger but it doesn't want to charge. Help. What do we do?
I want that phone to be charged and to work as intended as soon as possible, Gary. When was the last time that you were able to charge the phone without a problem? Is there any physical/water damage? Any signs of corrosion in, or around the charging port? Have you tried other chargers?

sounds like you just need a new battery -- they do go, eventually. And since it is almost impossible to get new OEM batteries for this phone, even a new after-market battery carries no guarantee of success -- only the original Motorola's (make sure there is a hologram) work well -- but only for about a year or so.
volume down and power button. hold them down for about 20 secs while plugged in to the charger
