Original or Refurb?

Couple weeks ago I started having issues with videos not playing if over 10 min. I went to store today, and since the store didn't have any incredibles to replace mine, they ordered one for me.  My question is this, the replacement phone that I'm gonna get, will it be original or a refurbished one? When I asked the guy at the counter he said that he's not sure.

If your still within that 30 day period of buying the device, most likely you will get a brand new phone.  If it is passed 30 days then you'll most likely get a refurbished device.

I do apologize for the trouble your are expriencing with video. Replacement phones are Certified "like new" Replacement (Refurbished) devices.

i just ordered a phone for my wife (allias II) a couple weeks ago. i inquired (as my wife is very pickky) as to the quality of the certified preowned phone that i was ordering. the lady told me specifically that these are what they use to replace  phones for exchanges, warrantied issues, etc. she told me in no uncertain terms that when someone gets a replacement, the certified preowned is what they get. she also assured me that what my wife would receive would be as good as a brand new phone, and would come packaged as a brand new phone, with whatever comes with that phone. so the bad news is that you'll get a refurb....the good news is that the lady was right.....there was NO possible way for my wife to tell that her new phone was anything but new. i did inquire about the price of a refurb moto droid (this was before i got the incredible), and when i asked if it would come with the 16 gb micro flash drive, the answer was no. this confused me since she had just told me that they come with everything a new phone would come with. i called back later to confirm and another rep told me the same thing....the moto droid (refurb) would not include the disk. that's odd to me because that's a $30-$40 value of getting a new moto droid.

personally speaking i would take a refurbished over new main reason why is they test the wazoo out of the refurbished one! i work in manufacturing and if it new they just do a test on a sum of the total new ones, about 10%. But if it's refurbished then everyone gets looked at and tested!

Amen to that.  I completely agree with you.  New products coming off the assembly line are tested randomly, and only a small percentage of them at that.  Anything refurbished is tested 100% by someone.  Your chances of getting a refurbished phone that doesn't work correctly is practically nil.  (barring inherent design defects that may be indicative of all of that model line.)

My replacement Moto Droid that I received about 2 months into ownership has been flawless.  My first, brand new out of the box one, died horribly after 2 months (obviously Smiley Happy

It's Human nature not to want 'used' equipment when you are having something replaced so soon after getting it, but as a general rule, you're actually better off with a refurb.

It's also worth noting that a "certified pre-owned" phone can be purchased much cheaper than a new one. Typically less than half of full retail and they carry the same warranty as a new one. A pretty good option if you're wanting a new phone but can' afford the full price.

I just received a replacement Apple I 5 phone and it says it could be refurbished.  I just paid for a new phone (got a new phone according to the employee) and something was wrong with the photos from day 1.  I should have gone in right away but I thought maybe it was something I was doing.  I was close to the 30 days, I have to check but regardless I don't want a refurbished phone when I've had it such a short period of time and paid for a new one.  I anticipate problems when I go to the store which I will do.  It looks like from what I am reading, I am not the first person to experience this type of difficulty.  My service with this company is new and I am sorely dissappointed because I was hoping it would be a good company but based on what I am seeing here.... the business practices are shady at best.   It may be in the contract, and I will check, and it may be refurbished phones are just as good but that does not make it all okay.  I may still have time to get out of my contract and based on what I am seeing here, I may need to go back to my prior company.  It will depend on their response.
