PROBLEMS WITH DROID BIONIC, REPLACED WITH PROBLEMATIC REFURBISHED BIONIC

APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS AGO I BOUGHT A "NEW" BIONIC FOR THE @ $200.00 PRICE, A FEW DAYS LATER THEY START DUMPING THESE PHONES FOR PRACTICALLY FREE ($9.99) TO GET RID OF THESE PHONES THAT SEEM TO HAVE BEEN PLAQUED FROM THE START WITH APPS USING SUBSTANTIAL DATA ON THEIR OWN CONTINUOSLY, AND LOSS OF CONNECTION ON VERIZON NETWORK...

WELL TWO MONTHS LATER I NOTICE THAT MY PHONE IS DOING THAT CONSTANTLY... SO, I TAKE IT IN TO MY LOCAL STORE WHERE THEY WARRANTY IT OUT ACTING LIKE THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHY IT'S DOING SO... TELL ME THAT MY "NEW" PHONE WILL BE HERE IN TWO DAYS... FOR STARTERS, WHEN IT ARRIVES... IT"S A REFURBISHED PHONE, SO NOW I HAVE A USED REFURBISHED PHONE THAT I PAID $200.00 FOR... WELL, OF COURSE THIS PHONE IS DOING THE SAME THING AS THE OTHER, BECAUSE NOW THAT I DO SOME RESEARCH, THEY CAN'T FIX THE PHONE TO NOT DO IT...

I'D JUST LIKE SOME INPUT AS TO WHAT I SHOULD DO NOW??? I'D LIKE TO HAVE A GOOD PHONE, THAT IS WHY I DIDN'T JUST GO FOR A CHEAPER PHONE TO BEGIN WITH... AND THE SALES ASSOCIATE TOLD ME THAT THE BIONIC WAS AN EXCELLENT PHONE... WELL, IT WOULD BE IF THEY COULD FIX ALL THE SOFTWARE PROBLEMS... BUT I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT AFTER A YEAR OF PROBLEMS THEY KNEW THEY WERE SELLING ME A PROBLEMATIC PHONE FROM THE START.,, WOULD IT BE BEST FOR ME TO JUST GO AHEAD AND CALL THE F.C.C. FOR STARTERS OR TRY TO LET VERIZON RIGHT THE WRONGS???

stop the BS . thousands of bionic owners are all reporting the EXACT SAME PROBLEM on this forum, motorolas forum

and verizons facebook page. it is a known verizon problem that has not been dealt with in almost 2 months since it escalated after the .905 software release. i'm waiting for the class action law suit for verizons blatant negligence that is bound to occur with this many dis-satisfied customers.

Have you tried to get a new SIM card?  Is the network issue occurring everywhere you go or is it localized?  Have you tried to put the phone in CDMA only mode to see if the stabilizes the data?

Warranty replacement are always refurbished phones.  Your phone was also considered used at the age of two months.

P.S. Please turn off the CAPs lock.  Using all CAPS is considered internet yelling.  Plus it is really hard to read.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I DON'T BELIEVE THAT THEY HAVE TRIED REPLACING THE SIM CARD...

THE BIGGEST THING I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IS BEING SOLD A PROBLEMATIC PHONE IN THE FIRST PLACE, WHEN THEY KNEW FOR @ A YEAR THAT THEY HAVE BEEN HAVING THESE SAME PROBLEMS... AND ESPECIALLY PAYING $200.00 FOR IT AND A SHORT TIME LATER THEM DUMPING THEM TO PEOPLE TO STOP SELLING THIS PHONE...

BY THE WAY... LET ME APOLOGIZE ABOUT THE ALL CAPS!!! IT IS VERY HARD FOR ME TO TYPE THE "POLITICALLY CORRECT" WAY... AND ALSO HARDER FOR ME TO READ THE LOWER CASE FONT... I GUESS NOT ALL OF US ARE EQUAL WHEN IT COMES TO OUR INTERNET ABILITIES... SORRY!!!

AND THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTION... HOWEVER, I HAVE READ WHERE SEVERAL HAVE TRIED THAT FIX... AND IT EITHER HAS NOT HELPED OR BEEN A SHORT LIVED FIX IN MORE CASES THAN IT SOLVING THE PROBLEM... AND THE ISSUE OCCURS EVERYWHERE I GO AS WELL...

RLF36301, I hear your concerns and understand your frustrations with your device connectivity.  I would like to see what we can do to resolve this for you.  As Ann154 has already mentioned, I suggest having the SIM Card replaced.  Since this problem has followed you from the last device, let me ask, have you downloaded any type of data or battery saver applications?  If so, please uninstall and test for a few days.  http://bit.ly/QqGWXD  These apps have been known to hinder data connectivity at times.  Let me know so I can further assist.  Thanks!

No doubt, it is good that you are trying to help, however, I don't think it is an app or SIM card problem.  I have had this phone since Oct, 11.  I am totally at a loss why MOTO keeps releasing bad updates for this phone.  Most frustrating, they seem to not be able to keep their code libraries clean.  They push out a release that fixes an issue while returning previous issues.  905 returned the connectivity problems to the original level at release and the hissing noise from the headphone jack.  It also created a new GPS issue.  I have never used a battery or data saving app and reading other boards Bionic users are having to manually revert their phones to the previous firmware version or flash prematurely up to ICS with mixed results as there is no clean version of ICS at this point based on board comments.  The problem is MOTO.  I have no faith the ICS update will fix anything cause the MOTO developers will continue to use bad code and ICS will be pushed out with known problems.  They are also terrible at quickly fixing issues.

I have had the bionic since Sept. 2011, I have had nothing but trouble with connection, update comes out and seems to fix problem. Then two days or so later connectivity dropping, and the most frustrating part I have is it seems to drop when I need it the most. For instance the other day we had to bring our dog to the hospital for emergency surgery. It was an hour away in a town my family and I do not spend time in. After getting our dog into the hospital we wanted to go out to eat, and wait to see how the surgery went. At this point my nerves were fried as my wife's were, and our kids, who were blissfully unaware (of just how serious the situation with our dog was), were driving us mad because they were hungry too. So I go to my trusty Bionic which says it has 4g connection and i bring up the stock browser and try to find some place to eat. Guess what, connection dropped. So I go through the process of turning the phone off and pulling the sim and turning it back on and then off again after about a minute to replace the sim, 4g pops up again so I pull up the stock browser again and type in my area and restaurants and I get the error message of web page not available. So I look up and I see 3 bars but no connectivity.

I was very upset (and still am) and I imagine this has happened to some degree to others and possibly in worse situations than ours, where they need some information and can not get it. I hate the device as a phone and went to see a rep about this and he said he doubted a new sim card would work any better and recommended to get a refurbished replacement for it. I said no I do not need a refurbished piece of junk.

Buying this phone when it came out cost me 300.00 $ because I was a sap and bought a device I should have known from the start to be problematic. I had faith though which did not serve me well at all. Verizon needs to get with Motorola and either replace all the defective junk with phones that work or they need to figure out what the hell needs to be fixed and fix it. Now the kicker, I got a call from Verizon the other day and told me that if I wanted to upgrade my phone when it is time I would either have to get on board with one of there new options for a plan or purchase a phone at regular price. I have been a long time customer with Verizon and have always had good service and coverage. I have been told that Verizon takes its time getting new phones in because they test the heck out of them to make sure they work. I have read that Motorola was the pioneering company in mobile phones. Well on this device they have both seriously dropped the ball. My wife and I are very seriously considering changing our carrier. Those of you who defend Verizon and say good riddance to me and those like me should be very concerned about being the next customers who get the short end of the stick. It is obvious to me that Verizon is just another big corporation concerned only with the bottom line and not with doing the right thing. I say this not because of my personal problem but with the plethora of blogs, posts, consumer reports that I have read about the Bionic since it has come out.

I do not want to change carriers I want Verizon to do what is right and sell people devices that work when we need them the most.
