Phone keeps saying "Verizon Wireless"

I'm new to the Droid2.  Why does the phone keep saying "Verizon Wireless" and how do I get rid of it?

When is it making the Verizon Wireless sound?

Try Menu -> Settings -> Sound -> Roaming Tone (make it so there isn't a check mark).
