Phone keeps turning off
ImaginationGone

My phone keeps turning off. I recently got a refurbished Droid Mini from Asurion within the last couple of days and thus far no problems. Only recently, tonight, it has begun turning itself off; it doesn't turn itself back on like a restart it simply turns off. When I try to turn it back on, it might stay on for a few minutes and try to download updates for several apps that I've already updated since I've activated it or after the initial Droid animation turn off immediately.

I feel this might be important, I was talking a friend and mindlessly took out the SIM card while the phone was on. I'm unsure but there may have been something updating while I took out the SIM card. I turned off my phone and replaced the SIM card and restarted my phone. It began turning off randomly thereafter and feel it's connected.

I really don't want to have to send it back, or drop any more money for yet another phone, and was hoping there was something I could do so my phone will work properly.

It's a Droid Mini by Motorola. I don't feel there are any battery problems and it isn't getting hot. It will stay on while plugged in, computer or outlet, but will begin turning off when unplugged.

Any suggestions or know what the problem is specifically?

Boot into safe mode first and see if the behavior stops

your device to freeze/reset/run slow. Our Troubleshooting Assistant can help you with other device issues if you aren't currently using the tool.

An alternate method is available if the device is unresponsive or won't power on.

  1. Press and momentarily hold the Power button (located on the right edge, above the volume buttons) until options menu appears then release.
  2. Select and hold Power off until the 'Reboot to safe mode' screen appears.
  3. From the Reboot to safe mode screen, tap OK.
Note Allow up to a minute for the device to reboot.

If that resolves it then I would factory reset and try setting it up again.  If it doesn't I would still do a factory reset and see if it resolves that way (try not to start installing apps until you verify whether it is still shutting down).
