Recently my incredible Rebooted.

When it came back it said "Software Updated to build 3.26.605.1"

Now I get "Force Close" on most apps including the Android market.

What is this build & how do I get rid of it !!!

PS: this phone is 12 months old with no problems until today.

Ya know, I had issues a couple days ago with force close but just ignored it. Today not a problem at all. Same Build but I have no idea if it is new or not. My build does have many more characters after it.

It could be an incomplete update. Check in settings for updates and see if it shows an available update.

I am having the same problem.  I got some kind of a notification a couple of weeks ago that there was a component update available (can't remember the words but a puzzle piece showed up in the status bar), but I ignored it at the time.  About a week later (1st week of May) my Incredible crashed and rebooted while using Nav, then it went into a reboot loop until I pulled the battery.  When it came back, most of my apps Forced Closed on me and I lost all of my contacts and stuff.  This did not make me happy.

I restored the contacts via backup assistant (thank you) and then had to un-install and re-install all my broken apps.  The phone still doesn't feel right after this (sorry, that's subjective and unclear, but it's just not it's old self.)  Then this last Saturday, we're driving down the road and I'm using tethering with a Netbook (I have the tethering plan) and the phone crashes and loops again.  Again, I have to pull the battery.  Again, most of my apps force-close.  A little further down the road (haven't had a chance to reload apps yet) it crashes and boot-loops again, forcing me to remove the battery.

If I check to see if the software is up to date, the phone says it is.  My baseband version is 2.15.00.07.28, my kernel version is 2.6.32.17-g9a2fc16, and the build number is 3.26.605.1 CL264707 release-keys.

Everything as fine before this, I was a happy user.  Now, the phone software seems very brittle.

Long thread on this problem here:

http://www.droidforums.net/forum/incredible-stock-help/88415-incredible-all-apps-force-close-startup...

Seems to have happened to lots of people.  Interesting that it's been so long and no solutions have come forward.  Seems to be related to pulling the battery, although I'm not sure how else one is to break the seemingly-infinite reboot cycle.

In the meantime, it's pretty clear that pulling the battery is a no-no!  I guess that shouldn't surprise me as the file system is a Linux file system.

I am sorry you are experiencing this problem. We have escalated this to our device technical team and they found that it is most often associated with the Advanced Task Killer application, which is not compatible with the Incredible. If you have this app installed, please remove and advise us if the problem still exists. If you do not have this installed, please PM me with an alternate contact number (not your wireless number) where you can be reached for additional troubleshooting.

Thanks,

I'm having similar problems, only native apps will run. Nothing I downloaded is working, getting Force Close. I called tech support and they said try uninstalling and reinstalling all of the apps. I uninstalled all of them and reinstalled a few. They work, but this is far from a reasonable solution.

Friday night the time on my phone switched to being 12 minutes off. I restarted the phone to fix that.

This weekend I had numerous consecutive reboots while using navigation, as many as 7 reboots consecutively, one right after the other. After that the phone is having problems loading the internet search widget.

I spent the last hour on the phone with Verizon. They had me remove the battery and replace it. Then they put me on hold and the call was eventually dropped...

I finally got through to tech support. They had me put the phone in safe mode, and see whether it dropped into normal on its own. It did, the phone is being replaced. Yea!
