Phone won't sync with Gmail , but Email from Yahoo does

Yes..... I have the three boxes checked in Accounts and Syncs under the Gmail account.   My Yahoo account does sync the Email ( and I know the calender and contacts is not available), but nothing syncs on the Gmail...either from the phone to the PC or the PC to the phone.  The time it is to sync is late at night when the phone is at my house and I only have 1x here....could that be the issue??

Hmmm....the phone should sync Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Contacts continuously, so your Google data should be syncing on a regular basis. I don't think that's the issue here.

You ask if the problem is solved?  ... There were no suggestions, so how would it get solved.  ANY way I linked my yahoo calendar to my Gmail account by "sharing" it and that did update on to my phone, and when I added an event on the phone it did end up on the PC. My contacts have still not synced.  I have about 60 contacts on the PC, about 48 are not on the phone, and I have about 100 contacts that are on the phone that are not on the PC.  I have not "grouped" or put any into any catagory.   Under accounts and sync it says that the task was preformed at 2:02 today....so why did it not sync

Dear cpatete,

The last sentence in my post is my standard "signature"; it appears on every post I make.  BTW, I am trying to help you, so take it easy.  Attitude will not motivate any of us to further help.  None of us has to help you, so I hope you can appreciate when some one takes the time to respond to your question, even if we don't solve it.

I suggest that you remove your account and set it up again, to see whether that changes the outcome.

Could there be a setting on the PC of Gmail preventing the sync?  I don't have the time to look now, but there is a gear at the top right of the screen when logged into Gmail.  Perhaps there is something set that can be changed.

If that doesn't do it I would suggest a hard reset, or at a minimum delete the account and start from scratch like Bill suggested.

Joe,

I don't think so. I checked my Gmail pretty carefully, and I think all the settings that cpatete needs to deal with are on the phone.

Cpatete, thanks for posting and thanks WCMack for helping!

You mentioned nothing in Gmail syncs, but then mentioned later that you have contacts on Gmail that haven't come to the phone. Are you getting any emails or calendar appointments? Try adding a calendar appointment to either the phone or Google then sync the phone. Does that show up? When you add new Contacts thru the phone, are you saving them as Google contacts? Also make sure Background data and Auto-sync are checked in Settings>Accounts & Sync.
