Pics converted to multimedia in text messaging, Why???

I need help and clarification.  When I send texts with a picture attached, I see a small window that says "converting to multimedia".  These are not videos or animated clip-arts.  The pictures are still shots, like a flower in a vase.  The single shot picture is converted to a 10-second slideshow with 3 buttons at the bottom.  First button is "|<", second button is ">" or "||", and third button is ">|".

When I look at the history of the conversation, my text with pictures has the play triangle icon on top of it.  When I expand the conversation to see each text on its own screen, I cannot continue when I get to one that has one of the "converted" pics  when I flip screens.  It gets stuck and doesn't go to the next message in the conversation and won't go back to the previous text.  I don't get it.

Is there a setting on the Droid Charge to stop this?

How large are the pics and does this happen with everyone or just certain people you text.

The pics vary in size from 23 kb to 750 kb and it happens to everyone I text.

Android phones since my DROID Eris have always displayed pictures messages as a slide show. That's where the play, pause and next options come into use.

Then Verizon should add two buttons to the menu when scrolling through the conversation.  I would click the picture in a text to see it bigger, and when I want to scroll to the next or previous text of the person, I cannot.  A "Next" and "Previous" button would be good.

I don't want my pics converted to multimedia when sending it in a text message.  It makes no sense, since you can only attach one picture to a text message.  Why convert it to multimedia aka slide show when it's only one picture?

I can attach more than one picture to a MMS message on my Tbolt.

Thank you for that information.  I cannot do that on my Droid with a text message..  After I attach one picture, when I go to menu to see if I can attach another picture, the options are "Add subject" and "Discard".

CRMorales,

Here's what I'm guessing is causing your problem.

From the home screen Touch messaging and then touch New Massage.  Then enter the Contacts TO cell phone phone number.  Next press the MENU button on the bottom lower left corner of the phone and when the menu comes up press Attach.

Now you can choose whether you want to attach PICTURES (top of the list) or a Slideshow (bottom of the list).  In this example touch PICTURES.  BTW, it appears that you can even send an audio message (Record Audio), although I have never tried it.

After you touched pictures your next screen allows you to choose the Picture (only one allowed) you want to attach.  At this point you can add your message and then send the message.  For practice you can send it to yourself.

OTOH, If you wanted to attach multiple pictures you  must choose SLIDESHOW at the point you choose PICTURES in the third paragraph above.

Please let me know how this works out for you!

PS,  While playing with this I noticed that in a single conversation containing multiple messages back and forth if  I exchanged BOTH a picture message and a slideshow message in the same conversation then all the messages, even single pictures, were then treated like a slideshow when being displayed on the phone's screen.  OTOH, in a new conversation when I choose PICTURE to send only one picture it displays as a single picture and not as a Slideshow.  Hope this helps you!  I learned a lot too.
