Problems with Hotmail

My email messages are appearing... and then disappearing, darn near instantaneously! I have three hotmail accounts synched on this phone (HTC Droid Incredible 2) and the setting is to only grab "today's" mail. I get repeated notifications of new mail on each account however when I go into the account (via phone) it displays a slew of old email (not just today but mail from months and years ago) along with some "new" mail from today and then as soon as they all appear, they all disappear.

Okay that's fine EXCEPT the notifications continue! The list of mail messages does not display long enough to select one or all of them and mark as delete. The list just wipes itself clear. Again, that's fine except for once again the notifications continue and it's an infinite loop.

This is beyond frustrating as email is my primary activity needed on my phone. I don't often use it for making calls even... mail is my important need.

As unfortunate as it is that I do not believe there to be a resolution to getting the standard mail app to work "properly" with hotmail, i'm going to mark this issue as resolved since I did find a resolution.  Sadly the resolution is to use a third-party app but since that worked out beautifully, I'll let it go.

Sucks though!

At least the moderators did move this issue to the correct forum so that if someone else is looking to "solve" the same problem, they will be able to find this.

@BlueFedora, are you using the default Mail app that comes with the phone? Can you try deleting the account and recreating it? Can you also provide more detail on how the account was setup, i.e. what process you used to setup the email?

Yes, using the default mail app. All set up was done thru the default mail app process.

I have deleted, re-added, re-deleted and re-added twice now.  I've also turned the phone OFF to see if it would re-set something.  I have waited a day, two days, to see if it would resolve itself.  It hasn't.

I've twice tried adding this problem to the Incredible2 forum and twice it has disappeared.  What's up with THAT?

I'm about to search the Android Market to see if there's an app I can install what will work correctly with hotmail on this phone.  If I can't get a resolution today the phone is going back to VWZ tmrw.

Sorry I did not realize that you are using Incredible2. I have an incredible and can only give you accurate information for that model.

If you are going to look at other mail apps, I will suggest looking at k9 mail. I use it on my tablet and love it!

I realized my mistake in posting in this forum right after I did it.  So I posted the problem in the Incredible 2 forum.  And what happened?  The moderators deleted it because I was cross posting.  So now I won't get any help here since it's the wrong place and I can't post there.

LOVELY.

I'm so frustrated I'm ready to just return the phone and go back to my old Droid Eris.  Yeah, slow as can be but it handled my email beautifully.

UGH!

Thanks for trying to help though.

Why don't you try again in the incredible2 forum? Explain wih the post that cross posting was in error and ask them not to delete your new post! I've found ppl on this forum to be very helpful. And try and see if using k9 will help. Good luck!

I have taken your advice and installed K9... so far I like :smileyhappy:  We'll see how it holds up during the day with email notifications and what not but so far so good.  THANK YOU for being so helpful even if the problem was in the wrong forum.  I have notified the moderator asking that they please let me post in the Incredible2 forum since this is a problem with that phone (not the Incredible which is the phone I wanted but it was EOL and not available from VZW).

Anyway, thanks for the heads up on K9... so far so good :smileyhappy:

I was not able to get K9 to synch properly with the Dinc2.  Gave up and went to Droid-mail instead... works like a charm :smileyhappy:
