My wife and I each have our own Charge phone.  One can ONLY sync its contacts to Back Up Assistant (not Google) and the other one can ONLY sync its contacts to Google (not BU-Asst).  QUESTION:  Is what I described below the reason for this anomaly???

When I looked at the contact list in my wife's Charge phone to the right of each individual contact there is a RED colored symbol signifying VERIZON.  This phone is able to backup/sync its contacts to Verizon's BU-Asst but this phone CANNOT backup/sync its contacts to her GOOGLE account.

Furthermore, when I looked at the contact list in my Charge phone to the right of each contact there is a BLACK colored symbol signifying GOOGLE.  This phone is able to backup/sync its contacts to GOOGLE but this phone CANNOT backup/sync its contacts to Verizon's BU-Asst.

I wonder why this is?  Maybe if I could get both the Verizon RED symbol and the Google BLACK symbol to the right of each of our contacts we could backup/sync to both Verizon and Google.

OTOH, maybe if we had chosen SIM CARD instead of Verizon (Red) or Google (Black) we would have been able to backup/sync to BOTH Verizon and Google as well as onto our SIM card (see attached photo)?   Does anyone know how to do this???

In other words is there any way we can save our contacts to Verizon's BU-Asst, to Google, and to the SIM Card if we chose to?

Thanks folks and best regards,

JerryF

Once a contact is created in one or the other system, it can't be changed unless you delete the contact and recreate in the other system.  Also contacts created in BUA will not be synced to Google and the reverse is true.

Do you both have MyVerizon accounts?  Backup Assistant is linked to each line for it to work.

Have you tried to create a contact as a Google contact on your wife's phone and see if it shows up in her Gmail contacts through a computer?

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Ann covered the information well...  If you would like to transfer all contacts to Google you can follow the instructions below...

1. Log into Verizon Backup Assistant
2. Click on Export to CSV
3. Save File as (or Rename to) Contacts (it should already be converted to CSV so including .csv is redundant)
4. Log into Gmail/Google Voice
5. Click on Contacts
6. Click on Import
7. Browse for the Contacts (.csv) file
8. Click Import

9. Disable BA by going to Settings / Applications . Manage Applications / All Tab / Sync Service / Clear All

All contacts on your device should sync to Google if they are not in the BA backup...   Now I do say should because no software is perfect.

Jerry since i have Motorola Phones there slightly different in set Up than of your Charge but when i Hit the Green Plus Indicator: It pops up an Ask Choose an account to Store New Contacts: My Choices are Google , Back Up Assistant an my Third Option is Yahoo witch can Hold all of my Contacts. On all my Droids i Chose Google. An when i Sold my Incredible i done a F.R. an cleared it out. An when i got my New Maxx i just entered Google Account an every thing flowed in smoothly.. Hope this Helped an Good luck b33

what wildman suggested is what i have done. i suggested importing the BA contacts and using only google going forward. it's just cleaner that way too.

Ann154,

Thank you for the confirmation.  That is exactly what I expected.   We cannot backup/sync to both Verizon and Google.

It's to bad because we wanted to; although, now we both prefer using DataPilot 7 and also Verizon's BU-Asst/sync for my wife and also Google backup/sync for me.  Life is good!

I still wondered what would have been if the original choice was to backup to the SIM Card so I tested it.

I added two new contacts with the SIM Card symbol and modified an already backed up contact that had the black Google symbol.  Then I sync'ed to google.  The two new contacts were NOT sync'ed/backed to Google but the one contact I modified did sync/backup.  Answer:  it ignores contacts with the SIM Card symbol.

Then, just for fun, I created one new contact where I used the RED Verizon symbol and, as expected, it did backup/sync that one new contact to Verizon's BU-Asst in the cloud way up in the sky.

Now I know from first hand experience!

Jerry you could on one of your phones go with B. A.  an on the other Google i did that once when i first got my Droids. But i like this better an it makes doing F.R.'s allot more easier. An as i mention you can manage an Send your contacts from the Gmai site. I added birthdays special events an Dates from there.. But it's good you got it going again Take care b33 Smiley Happy
