Question re: Front of Phone (home, menu, back and search)

Hi,

I recently got the Droid Incredible (HTC) and so far I love almost everything about it.  I do seem to be having one problem that I can't figure out right now.    On the front of the phone there are the four touch buttons (not buttons  but couldn't think of the right word)  home, menu, back and search.  Sometimes they light up and sometimes they don't????   Whenever my phone is on - shouldn't those touch buttons be  lit?   It varies as to when the light will come on and when it won't come so I can't seem to figure out any sort of pattern.     Is this a flaw in this particular phone?  Do yours stay lit whenever the phone is on?

I don't have the right terminology so I hope I explained my problem good enough.

Thanks in advance for the help!   Have a great day everyone.

you explained it just fine. i believe they light up when you are in darker settings (so you can see them better). in daylight or brighter settings, they will not. try going into a closet or bathroom with the light off and see if they light up (with the screen unlocked). i believe that's the case? mine are off now....when i held it under my shirt they lit up.

Azsaluki is correct, the capacative buttons (there you go) light up under darker conditions so that you can see them easier, whereas, in brighter conditions it's assumed that you would be able to see them without being backlit.  I was thinking that if auto brightness was turned off they might stay on, but changing the ambient light had the same effect.

Mine seems to act the same way. Never has bothered me, still doesn't. Especially if it is one of the built in functions to save the battery wherever it can. :smileyhappy:

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
