Receiving Picture Messages

When I receive a Picture message it comes in as a slideshow, how do I change it to come in as a picture instead?

I am not sure we can change that. I have looked over and over and have not found a solution.

Well, I can't even keep the slideshow on long enough to even look at it. Sorry  but this is not acceptable.  Does all the Droids only receive slideshows?

I believe that was a change that came about in the android 2.2 update and so it would have come from google.  I use handcent (in the market) for my texting and don't remember that happening, but I don't get that many picture messages.  It may be worth a try.

if it's a pic that i want to view for more than a few seconds, i long press the message and save the pic. then i can pull it up from my downloads folder in the gallery. a bit  of a hassle but it's a decent work around. plus, then it's saved (and any of the pics i actually want to view for more than a few seconds, i'll want to save anyhow).
