Is there a  way to reduce the pixel or res size of the jpg images of the camera so I can view them quicker?

The camera has a option for resolution but keep in mind this can effect overall image quality of camera...  Goto: camera and press left menu button and settings and you will see oprions..

Also you can edit image from gallery... Open Gallery > Select Image > Edit > Advance Editing > Resize
