Returning Calls?

MrJazz
Newbie

I have a DroidX on the Verizon network.

So, I got a voice mail from a caller not in my contacts.

When I look at listing my calls, the original call is not listed.  It is not listed under missed calls, recieved calls, or all calls.

When I am in voice mail, I am not aware of any facility that allows me to return dial a call.

Are you telling me that Verizon and Motorola are forcing me to use memory/pen & paper to return this phone call?

I had a dumb cell phone before this that did not make me do this.....what am I missing as I cannot believe this is the case.

Good morning tom. I'm sure Voicemail works the same on every Verizon phone and once in Voicemail you have options after reviewing a message. Press 7 to delete. 9 to save and so on. Which option to dial back I can't recall but the option should be there after the message.

It's also possible for a phone call to not make the trip to the phone, mostly when you are in a weak signal area, but I've seen it happen a time or two in good signal. I blame that on the network, not the phone.

When that happens, the phone has no record of the phone call, so you can't see the information you are missing. It didn't make it to the phone in the first place.

As for no information to call back the person that left the message, I'd inform them of the courtesy of leaving a detailed message with a name and a phone number.

Yeah, yeah, Visual Voice Mail costs $3.00 a month, but that's a good deal for getting the information when a phone call doesn't make it through. It's also a good deal, considering the other crap available that people spend 4 and 5 dollars a month for.

I've tried the other visual voicemail apps, and the native app that comes on the phone is the only one that works reliably.

I suspect that the phone was out of contact when the call was recieved as I do not get coverage inside the buildings at work.  This is a serious bummer as.....I do not get coverage at work.....
They did leave a complete and appropriate message, which I listened to walking to my car with no paper/pen/time available, and really needing to return the call.

Actually having to remember and manually dial a phone number just seems so....20th Century......

There is an option of "to return a call press"  I don't recall the number you press, but it is stated once you the message has completed. I've used it a couple of times myself.

Didn't come up as an option when I went through them....and I went through them twice listening real hard.

As I mentioned above, that may be an option that exists  for other numbers on the Verizon VoiceMail network.  This call was not from a Verizon number.

Replying to the voicemail system was not presented as an option in this instance....I looked specifically.

I have seen (heard?) a reply option on other  voice mail systems (is that really the same lady that records all those voice mail systems?   Sounds like it), but limits replies to a number that is actually within the same voicemail network,
I have not tried to reply to someone leaving a voice mail from another Verizon phone, but it might be worth a try.

The settings of the voicemail does not give you the option to return a call to the caller, it allows you to:

Replay
retrieve the Envelope (time/date)
Forward the message (send copy)**
Delete the message
Reply**to the message in the form of a message
Save the message
