Ring tones and alerts

I have two questions.  Is there a way to convert songs to short clips of songs to your ring tones?

also how do you make the phone give a alert tone that repeats itself after you recieve a message?

your first question......

2 options/methods

1.) ringdroid in the app market

or

2.)  get a audio editor for your PC (i.e. audacity, sound forge, etc.) open wav, audio, etc file, and slice/ crop the section you want to use...... transfer to you phone (email, bluetooth, or usb file transfer) viola....

Try a app called Missed Calls on the market, from description it sounds like it should do what you are wanting....  Report Back on findings because I would like to know if it works for you...
