Ringbacktones - what are they and how do you use them

I went to VCast tones to download some Ringtones and accidently bought a Ringbacktone.

I would like to know what the Ringbacktones are and how do you configure them to work on your phone.

Downloading Ringtones and setting them up for different users is easy.   However, I don't see any way to download Ringbacktones or how to set them up for contacts.

Any information or instructions would be appreciated.

Thanks

never used them and don't know how to set them up. but if you don't know what they are....they are what the person calling you here's. so instead of your friend listening to the standard ring sound while waiting for you to pick up,....they hear whatever ringback tone you have. be carefull with them, depending on your line of work. you don't want your boss or a client to call (or grandma) and here eminem blazing their ear. or maybe you have a really cool boss and grandma and they're cool with that? lol

You DO Not want Buckcherry telling the caller they are a CB. Just might kill the interview you have been hoping for or that date with the dream person ya know! :smileyvery-happy:

But how do you install them.  I figured that they would replace the typical musak that some is hearing when they are waiting to answer you, but unlike ringtones, it is hard to figure out how to download and install.

Thanks for your reply

  • What are Ringback Tones? Ringback Tones is a new personalization service, which replaces the standard ringtone for your friends and family to enjoy. Choose a song for your callers to hear before you pick up a call. Use the language of music to express yourself before you answer a call and say a word.

  • How to purchase Ringback Tones? Ringback Tones may be purchased through the Internet, and through text messages to the Ringback Tone shortcode (728), use "RBT", "LIST", or the 3-digit song code in the message.* *Not Available in ALL Markets Check the Service Availability tab on the Ringback Tones Website.

You cannot upload your own ringback tones or make them. Ringback tones are stored to Verizon's servers. So you just cannot. You will have to buy one directly from Verizon if you want it

I don't even think you can download ringback tones. I think the person is getting mixed up between ringtones and ringback tones. I am confused.

Ring back tones are set on Verizons side of things, not on your phone.  You will need to go to your "my Verizon account" online and change the option there.  About 1/2 way down the overview page is a list of features.  Hover over the ringback tones, a window will pop up with a choice to Explore or manage.  Click on manage and you can drag and drop your ring back tones from your directory to either your default ring.

You can set up various songs for differant days of the week.  I don't know  if there is an option to set up different tones for different contacts.

Another way, go on line and do a search on your verizon page for manage ringback tones.

I hope this helps
