I downloaded Ringtone from the Marketplace and downloaded ringtones. They show up as ringtones but I cannot get them to play when someone calls my phone. How do I get my ringtone I selected to play when I receive calls?

I wouldn't call you dumb, you just don't know your way around yet.
The best thing for new users to do is to play around. Go into all the apps, press menu and see what options you have. Press and hold areas on the screen within the apps and see what other choices you have.
I downloaded the app and a ringtone. Right after downloading a ringtone there is an option to set the song as a ringtone.
You are correct though, it does not show up as a song in the music app.
It places the mp3's in /sdcard/FreebeRings/mp3.
Download sdrescan from the market.
Then go to the music app, it should find it.

It doesn't make sense that they show in your playlist unless you added them to your play list.
Try menu - settings - sound - phone ringtone.

I did that. I have gone into everything simple to change it. I downloaded them from the Ringtone APP from the marketplace and it must have saved them from there into my playlist instead of songs.

When you downloaded the file, what location was it placed in?
You can use the files app that comes with the D2 to move it wherever you want.
All of my music is in a directory I created called "my music".
They are separated into sub directories by artist name.

When I downloaded Ringtone, it placed it in my Apps and then when I downloaded the ringtones, It placed them in the Ringtone app, some of them went into my settings ringtone and all of them went into Music app but placed them into into playlist instead of songs. I am pretty dumb when it comes to this stuff so I'm not sure exactly how to create my own file and make my ringtones go into there!
