SD card issues

New Droid 2 global.  Bought SD micro card 8gb. Formatted with adapter on my Windows PC as FAT32.  Loads the card, see it and will Mount.  I If I set the phone to USB mass storage so that I could move items eventually from the card to the phone [right now its blank], the second I plug in the USB cable to computer it no longer sees the card.  The phone shows no card mounted.  If I unplug the phone, turn it off, will again see the card, plug in the phone to USB same result.  If I turn of USB mass storage and use as charge only card stays mounted. Brand new SanDisk micro SD card.  Anyone encountered this?

I had already tried that.

An update if anyone is following this thread.  I tried again to use Media Share and selecting USB Mass Storage.  It tried to load software this time titled A9556 but didn't load successfully.  Again when usb plugged in the SD card is no longer recognized. After shut down as before does see the card.  I tried accessing thru Windows Media selecting Window Media Sync and software was loaded recognized Droid 2 Global.  Was able to access media and move a music file, it runs.  Yah.  Went back and tried the USB mass storage through Media Share and phone says "sd card not in" but I can see it on PC and can open it.  This even though if you try to go through Media Share it say I need to insert a sd card!

You have to go to the USB icon on top of the tool bar to reset to Windows Media Sync!!  Its not quite right - something wrong when USB mass storage is selected in Media Share.  If the engineers are reading these perhaps there is patch.   I am using windows 7 home premium.

I've got the same problem.  Also, when I plug it in to the computer the installer wizard comes up and asks if I want to repair or remove the driver.

You may want to try removing and reinstall.  I have not received that message,  just error in download next to 956!  My guess is a driver but without some guidance not willing to give up the progress that I have made in loading using Windows Media Sync.  Annoying in that using USB Mass storage will drop the card and needs restart to clear it.  Perhaps someone out there will pick this up and help us out. Thanks for joining in.

If you are experiencing issues with your memory card being recognized, you may simply need to re-mount your card.

To remove or format your memory card, you need to unmount it. Touch Menu > Settings > SD card &
phone storage > Unmount SD card. Then, to format your memory card, touch Format SD card.

The first time you use a USB connection, your computer may indicate that drivers are being installed.

Follow any prompts you see to complete the installation. This may take a few minutes.

1 With a memory card inserted, and your phone showing the home screen, connect a Motorola micro USB data cable from your phone’s micro USB port to a USB port on your computer. Your phone should show in the status bar.

Note: Make sure to connect the phone to a high power USB port. Typically, these are located directly on your computer.

2 On your phone, flick down the status bar to see the USB connection options.

3 Touch an option:

• PC Mode.

• Windows Media Sync—Use Windows Media Player to sync media files on your computer and
phone.

• USB mass storage—Drag and drop files between your computer and memory card folders. When you’re done, use “Safely Remove Hardware” before disconnecting the USB cable.

Note: You can’t use the files on your memory card while it is connected.

• Charge Only—Use the connection to charge your phone’s battery.
