does anyone know if the droid X can handle SDXC cards, I ask because of the below:
In the 3.0 specification, the electronic interface of SDHC and SDXC cards is the same. This means that SDHC hosts which have drivers which recognize the newly used capability bits, and have operating system software which understands the exFAT filesystem, are compatible with SDXC cards. The decision to label cards with a capacity greater than 32GB as SDXC and to use a different filesystem is due solely to the limitations in creating larger filesystems in certain versions of Microsoft Windows. Other operating system kernels, such as Linux, make no distinction between SDHC and SDXC cards, as long as the card contains a compatible filesystem.

I really would like to have more than 32 gig of storage, if i had 64 gb i could stop carrying a second device with me and seeing as there are sdxc cards at 64 and 128 gb, it would be a great solution without changing devices. I just do not want to drop a hundred bucks without having a better idea

If I had to guess I would say that the card wouldnt be supported and would not read in the device.

the only reason i could see would be if the X or android its self could only read fat32 and not exfat, it would be weird to code into block it... maybe i asked the wrong question... do we know if the X or android suppoert fatex file format

I don't know but I really cant see that format working because SDXC can handle up to a terabyte and the level of resources just to index the data files would exceed all resources of the device also other users has reported that the SDXC cards are not the same size as a standard microSD card (It is more designed like a standard SD), I do not know because I haven't compared them side to side.

the microsdxc would be the same size as the microsdhc, their size specifications are the exactly same by the stainers board that controls them, sdhc was originally going to support capacities greater than 32gb (up to 2tb as well), and could, but a decision was made to limit that to sdxc. im not looking for 2tb, but 64gb which should easily be indexed. i feel the issue is support for exfat, which i can not find any mention of compatibility with android or non compatibility
sorry for not specifying the micro earlier, i thought it would be assumed since i did not label the sdhd micro either

I really do not see this working but who knows, the only way will to be to test it because I do not see manufactor releasing information on this... There is more in play than the size to get this to function and I do not see them investing any testing on a device that is listed as on its way out.
Sometime it is easier to test it out than spend time wondering...
