is there any way to speed dial more than 10 numbers? i used to be able to speed dial up to 99......and i REALLY miss it!

I'm afraid that you are correct. Actually, you only have 8 slots. The first number is dedicated for voice mail, and the numbers only go up to 9, not 10. With my LG versa, I was able to get 99 speed dial numbers as well. By the way, I checked my Droid2 and it was the same, from 2 to 9 and that was it. I guess all the Motorola Droids (which are basically all the same) only gives you so many speed dial slots.

Is there really a need for 99 Speed Dials?  I have 30 on my Favorites and I thought that was too many but I do have almost 1000 Contacts on my device and I dont want to scroll that many.

I find the best way to shorten a very long list is to put them into groups. For example, I have about 12 in a family group, 17 in a work group, 11 in a work friends group (shorten the work group), then I have a medical group, and a volunteer group. This way, if I need to find a person fast, I just pull up the group that person is in. Oh yes! I have my 8 speed dialing slots filled up.

Yeah I got mine grouped also but actually I dont even use Speed Dial option, I either use my People widget from market that allos me to scroll through my favorites or I use the dialers favorites.

My old Blackberry was also limited to 9 speed dials. Definately not enough since people you call frequently often have more than 1 phone# (cell, work, home)

You may want to look into the People Widget because it allows access to all contact information including gps access at a click..
