Samsung CHARGE
This is sooo frustrating, lately my phone and my husbands phone both Samsung CHARGES are dropping calls left and right! Literally the calls don't last longer than a minute; It doesn't even come close to a minute long. I checked my call history/usage and there were over 25 calls that were interrupted due to dropped calls. I dont understand it!! I have calls last only 1 min. 12 sec., 49 seconds, 55 seconds and the latest call I tried to make lasted 16 seconds when the call was dropped. The last two attempts were to my husband who was literally 4 feet away from me!!
I have had this phone since the beginning of June and like I said it is just been recently (2 week) that the phone calls have been very inconsistent. Today I have just had it!! Can anyone help me resolve this issue or give me a heads up to what is causing this before I go screaming into the store?
I needs to be said that I don't hate this phone, I just wish its primary reason for being a phone would actually work.
The plus side to this phone is all the apps, the amazing camera, and mult media you can view and use on this hand held device.
Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

I live in Chandler Arizona, I have been having the same issue with the Droid Charge. My wife has the Droid X and has no issues. This is clearly a Samsung issue.
I went to the Verizon store and as soon as I mentioned the issue I realized that the staff there is well aware of it, they took number from the phone to give it to the tech from verizon because they need more data to analyze it. They said that every one from their staff at the store who has a Droid Charge has been having the same issues lately, even the store manager.
So, I asked them, what's the issue and what can I do?
They said that they are collecting data, will need it to get in touch with Samsung to get it fixed.
I asked when will it be fixed? they said hopefully end of the month Samsung will have some software update,
Asked if there is anything else I can do? they said, no, just wait for the update
Now this kind of response just **bleep** ME OFF! I left all carries to pay a premium to get to Verizon for their service otherwise T-Mobile looks a lot better in terms of quality AND price right now. I just could not believe the response. I came home and called corporate and talked to a couple of people, one has me reset the phone, as if that's going to change anything. I got the phone about a month ago and I am ready to go throw it at them
this issue started to happen in the past week, not sure if it has to do with any of the changes verizon has been making. I have also lost 4G, 3G and voice network intermittently, it's a joke!
You know what's the bigger joke? The staff over the phone, the technical support said that this is the first and they have not seen an issue reported. Well, clearly no one at verizon is reading this page or they are just on strike !
this company that was one of the leading carriers for quality and service has gone down the drains. Greed is the single word that will bring you down and put you right beside the likes of AT&T
We made you and we can break you, keep up with your low level of quality, it's only a matter of time!
at this point, I don't want the phone, if a phone can't work right 30 days after I got it, what am I supposed to do for the next 23 months until I am up for renewal?
Verizon, have some shame

Everyone, thanks for sharing your concerns. I understand this is a frustrating issue with the device dropping calls and/or losing audio. This issue has been reported to Samsung and our product team, and we are working on a software fix for this issue. I do not have an exact date on the update, but it is expected to be included with the Gingerbread release for this device.

I'm not sure why all of a sudden this issue came up -- I mean, I literally can't have a conversation with my wife (we both have Samsung Charge phones) -- and this just started happening about 2 weeks ago. So the resolution by Verizon Wireless is to suggest we wait until some time months in the future when Gingerbread is released??

Update in Ocean CIty MD...
I thought the issue was fixed. Sadly no. My calls now last 2 or 3 minutes as opposed to 30 seconds but I still "drop" every "In-Network" call longer than that.
Got a message from tech support that they are working on my ticket but there is no resolution so far.
Is the issue fixed in AZ as people have reported?
Why do I have to wait for Gingerbread? If the issue is fixed in AZ then it's not a software/firmware issue.
How about we ask the techs in AZ what they did?

I am Sooooo Feeling Everyone's pain with this dropped call issue! I have only had my Charge for 2 months when it starting dropping calls approximately 10 days ago. I could not talk to anyone via cell to cell service but I did notice that I wasn't getting disconnected if I was talking with a someone on a Land-Line! But, how many people these days still have Land-Lines?? and, What did I buy this phone for anyways??
So, I started my painful adventure by spending an 2 hours on the phone with Tech Support...trying all the typical **bleep** fixes....(take battery out, remove all new apps, wipe phone clean, hold it over your head up-side down while kicking yourself silly for dealing with this **bleep**!.....which at this point I thought may have worked.
But, not just no, BUT HELL NO! ....Nothing work!
So, off to the Verizon Store I went with phone in hand, ready to throw it at the first person who told me something stupid!! After hanging in the store for about 30 minutes (worlds fasted verizon store wait in history for me!), I was told that I must have received a "lemon of a phone" and that Verizon would replace my phone for free!
Wow, I thought now we are getting somewhere! Little did I know the hell only had just begun!
Once I received my new Charge in the mail and I had activated it, all seemed wonderful in Droid Charge Land! So, I followed the instructions, drove to FEDEX and returned my old phone quickly so not to get charged by Verizon.
And then what do you think happend...YOU GOT IT!
4 hours after I had mailed my old/new phone back....the new phone is once again dropping calls! And, once again, I am back on the phone with technicians telling me they have NO {word filter avoidance}
Idea why this is happening because they have not had any other reports of problems.
In addition to not knowing how to resolve this issue, Obviously Verizon Staff Members cann't READ either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Besides AZ and Ocean City, MD.... I am Totally Frustrated in Southern Maryland!!

I live out in Scottsdale, Arizona, and it seems that my charge and my wife's charge.....**magically** work again...we have not gotten any update on our phones, we have not done anything differently with them at all since the "dead air" issues or even before them...and now..all of the sudden the calls do not drop, nor is there any dead air" issues. We are very lucky and thankful that this issue has seemed to remedy itself (after almost 2 weeks of not being able to call anyone on Verizon, which is about 85% of our phone calls)...I don't know how, but it seems that it has. However, we are still not sure that it is 100% fixed here in Scottsdale/Phoenix area....my wife and I have not had conversations with one another for longer than 10-15 minutes...so it could still happen, we just haven't had enough time to sit around on our phones and see if indeed the audio cuts out still or not, the issue may have just been delayed a bit...but so far in the past 5-6 days or so we have not had any "dead air" issues at all in-network or out of network and we always seemed to be able to call land lines without issue. So, I hope that it gets fixed everywhere soon! It is a major pain in the rear!! Hopefully this Gingerbread update rolls out by the end of this week of the beginning of next week. We need to have reliable cell phones and everyone deserves it.

Dropped call issue getting worse and worse here in RI. It's horrible when on a call the other person patches in and out to the point where I can't understand a word they are saying. I'm really becoming frustrated. For a "smartphone" you'd think it'd be able to do the most basic feature of a "phone"!

Something must have changed here in AZ as I haven't had the issue in over a week now. It just suddenly disappeared as fast as it appeared. I used my phone quite a few times today talking to my family in the same places I had the dead air issues before and no more problems. Seems like the VZW folks in AZ need to share with the rest of the country what they did.

VERIZON, FIX THIS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IF GINGERBREAD DOESN'T SHIP TOMORROW, THEN YOU HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO CORRECT THIS FOR THE CURRENT RELEASE. YOU ARE NOT TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY ENOUGH. IF YOU VALUE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION, SOMETHING VERIZON HAS HAD DUE TO THE FAILURE OF AT&T FOR THE iPHONE, YOU MUST BE PROACTIVE HERE.
WHEN THIS HITS THE NATIONAL MEDIA YOU WILL BE SERIOUSLY EMBARRASSED, AND YOU WILL OWE ALL OF THE PURCHASERS OF YOUR TOP-END 4G PHONE REFUNDS FOR LOST SERVICE.
IF YOUR MANAGEMENT IS UNAWARE OT THIS PROBLEM YOUR ORGANIZATION IS IN TROUBLE - BAD NEWS NEEDS TO GO TO THE TOP IMMEDIATELY. IF YOUR MANAGEMENT, COMMUNICATIONS, AND PR PEOPLE AREN'T SCREAMING AT YOUR TECHS THEN IT'S PROBABLY TOO LATE ALREADY.
YOUR TOP-END PHONE DOESN'T WORK AS A PHONE WHEN TALKING TO PEOPLE ON YOUR OWN NETWORK. THAT'S A BIG STORY.
YOU'RE FAILING AT YOUR CORE BUSINESS - A MAJOR HEADLINE. SHORT VERIZON STOCK!

Same problem in Minneapolis. Just curious, how many of you have the Lookout app on your phone? A Verizon store employee told me to get rid of it. i did and have fewer problems of dead air calls with other Verizon phones.

The problem is not fixed here in Maryland.
I just got my Droid Charge 2 days ago and I've had more dropped calls (audio just goes dead) in the past 2 days than I've had in the 10 years I've been with Verizon. It only seems to occur with other Verizon Customers, especially those using an Android phone.
This is not acceptable. It needs to be fixed ASAP.

I live in ND. I also noticed this start in the last two weeks. Seems to be much worse when one or both parties are driving. Definitely an issue with verizon to verizon. I have not had the issue talking with Land Lines or other networks.

I've had the Samsung Charge since the beginning of June and everything was fine until Aug. 4/5 when the dropped calls/dead air problem started happening to me. I've sent emails to ATT, Sprint, and T-Mobile containing the entire contents (copy and paste, not just a link) of this thread. I also told Verizon that I did this. EVERYBODY NEEDS TO DO THIS.
I am in the Washington DC area.
