Ever since update my phone has issues. How many of you have the same problems??

1. When recieving a call you say "Hello" and the other person cannot hear you, you have to repeat again "Hello", **bleep** me off to have keep repating myself!!

2. Screen capture snaps a picture while accessing messaging

3. Data dropout, no data, no switch to 3g?

4. Poor battery life.

And others........

Could we a class action against all of these problems??

Verizon & Samsung dont gave a ****!   Look how long the update took to try to fix the problems, another fix ya right!

Defective Phones that Verizon should step up and replace all Samsung Charges!!!!!!!

All of these issues and they are still selling these phones????

I feel bad for anyone buying this phone, hopefully they have read this first!

tsu708,

Your best bet may be to go to a Verizon "company store" and have the Gingerbread 2.3.6 update re-installed into your phone.  Sometimes OTA updates don't work properly.  Do it again!

I wished it was that simple but more than one phones on my account, plus friends are experiencing the same problems. Leads me to believe there is much more going on

I do not think it is the phone as much as it is GB in general.  Same thing happened at first with the push of GB to my D2.  I cured both the D2 and the DC by rooting them.  All those problems went bye-bye.

I've had the exact same issues and as of yet Verizon does not admit there are any issues and has not provided any assistance.

Samsung Charge (and Droid OS ?) absolutely SUCKS.  Verizon Wireless just shipped me a brand new (not refurb) replacement phone and battery:

  • Battery life still sucks - even with 4G turned off and illumination set to minimum.
  • Ear speaker screeches when using the phone - VZW is aware of this problem.  My older Charge did NOT have this issue
  • Microphone shuts off in the middle of a call - approximately every 3-4 calls.
  • Locks up intermittently when viewing photos and listening to music.

Bottom line, I need a phone that last all day.  Micro PC is a nice add-on.

Shall I give up on droid and go iPhone, or is this just a Samsung H/W issue?

Is it just me or does anyone else think the Droid Charge is a piece of junk. I got this phone last summer and have hated it ever since. I can't wait to get an iPhone.

The Charge is not a perfect device by any means, but it is much better after the Gingerbread update, at least for me.  Signal and 4G retention improved.  The screen is fantastic and it never drops calls.  Right now it may be one of the best 4G phones out there.  I wanted to jump on the Nexus but want to see if the next update fixes the signal issue.

Just wondering why you would want to go backwards to an iPhone that has outdated software, much smaller screen and outdated technology.  I know most people that get an iPhone probably don't even realize it is not 4G.  Just because it is Apple people don't even question that it is a 3G device.

I concur.

I have not any problems with mine after installed GB (and I even got a CPO charge in Sept).

people keeping forgetting that every phone has it's issues, and most of these issues are usually a hardware defect or personal use (app, not using phone correctly, unrealistic expectations, etc.).

a main reason why folks come on these forums is to complain about their device (I come on here to look for more tips/tricks and help others).  and in case you haven't noticed, the Charge forum is a ghost town.

most discussions on other charge forums on the web are about custom ROMs and other tweaks to improve the device, not to complain about it.

keep in mind that the battery life of smartphones is not long, and you'd be lucky if you could get a whole day (24 hours) in between charges.  I once got 70 hours, but that's also b/c I know how to use my device (and when not to use it)

Do you have any problems with the screen blacking out during call and so then you cannot wake the phone up to enter a number?

That's from the light sensor on the top right of the phone. It gets dirty, and if it's too dark, it blacks screen because it thinks it's to your ear.

There are 3 Droid Charge's on my account. I got mine a year before the other two (after I was willing to give Motorola another chance with the Bionic, which was cancelled right before release..). So less than 2 years later this thing is absolute junk. It crashes up to 3 times a day (usually while in my pocket), it freezes up and I have to reboot 2-3 times a day, and the battery life.. well, I unplugged it at 9AM, it was at 80% by 10AM, and dying by 1PM. I hadn't even touched it between 10 and 1.

The other 2 phones act loopy as well - I honestly wonder if there was an update in the past few months that make the OS go screwy so we'd by new phones. One's already been replaced for not getting past the start animation.

I loved it when I first got it, but now - I wonder if I should buy even another Samsung. Bad parts may be to blame (welds weakening from heat, or something) but either way, for the price they charge, it should be better than this!

High hopes for the Linux phone.

I have two Samsung Charges.  They are both junk....all the problems I see listed on this forum and more.  I guess I'm going to have to go iPhone on my next upgrade.

I purchased the phone about a year ago from Best Buy along with their insurance program.  Yesterday I took the phone back there to see if they could resolve my problems.  The phone was so screwed up they could run their diagnostics on it.  Screens change at will, it locks up, reboots, the camera doesn’t focus, etc.  The phone is in pristine condition.  It’s been in an OtterBox since the day I got it.

Best Buy is ordering a replacement for me under the insurance program.  From what I’ve read online, these problems are not unusual for Samsung phones, especially the Charge. Unfortunately, this is the phone I’m stuck with for another year.  Best Buy gave me a loaner HTC.  It’s working GREAT!  Maybe I’ll switch to HTC or iPhone when my next upgrade comes around.

Thanks for your response.

That is kinda the reason I jumped from Samsung to Motorola with my current phone. I went from having  couple of Samsung phones in a row, having issues with them without Samsung really caring, to my current Motorola RAZR MAXX, which Motorola is very willing to help with.

My 2nd household phone has problems after 6months. The reception spontaneously goes static. Took to best buy and received a replacement. Will see if it reoccurs. My phone had problems with the screen blacking out when I am using voice mail or any call that requires you to press 1 for this or 2 for that. My the 2nd or 3rd instruction it goes black and I cannot follow any prompts. I have to disconnect. Very annoying. Trouble is I bought mine on the Verizon internet.

I am on my 3rd replacement Charge tonight.

  - The first one had the 4g -> 3g drop problem and randomly rebooted throughout the day; had to put it into airplane mode to get the data connection to come back.

  - The second phone was fine for about 3 months, but now reboots randomly, squeals and backfeeds on a live call (both speakerphone on and off).

  - Third replacement showed up tonight, powered it up and activated it... the wifi doesn't work. It will login and grab an ip address but won't route to anything. The 4g drops to 3g and then disappears, requiring airplane mode on/off to bring it back. Called my voicemail box and experienced the same squealing noises as #2.

I have never been so frustrated with a device. Both VZW and Samsung tech support claim "no known issues" in the computer system, but the forums appear to have similar stories as mine. I wish they'd just send me an entirely different phone. VZW has always had exceptional customer service in my experience over the past 10 years. I hope someone at VZW runs with this and helps us with a solution.

Yep, my samsung charge i510 failed completely.

1-people couldn't hear me on calls.

2-gets stuck in 3G even when in known 4G area. Had this prob in 2011. Prob fixed. Now prob is back.

3- OS crashed completely. Batt has full charge. Verizon customer service and corp. store say they will replace it by shipping another. Since it failed after 4pm on friday, replacement ships Monday. expect delivery by Wednesday. 5 Days without a phone or data!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My business suffers without service.  If I use an upgrade from my daughter's phone(recommended and pushed by Verizon), I will have to pay $200 ish to get equivalent phone and accessories  and my adult daughter will loose her upgrade for a year. Why can't Verizon early upgrade a defective product?

WHY SHOULD I PAY FOR VERIZON/SAMSUNG KNOWN PROBLEMS?!!!!!!!!  Verizon customer service has no tools or power to solve issues for long time customers.

Tomorrow I look for better service from another provider.

Just an update - I had an awesome experience with Verizon tech support this evening after chatting with them about my 3rd replacement. A very sweet gal helped me get migrated to a different replacement model of similar value. I get the impression some of the revisions of the phone have weird problems or maybe a specific run of them that were manufactured. Hopefully others here will have a similar experience. Many thanks to VZW tech support!

My Samsung Charge problem resolved!  I went to another Corp. store (how i knew is the sign didn't say authorized dealer). Just 5miles away another corp. store  had a well oiled service machine! The lady that helped me got me in a new phone without wasting an upgrade. She offered solutions the first store did not. She fixed my plan to be more efficient. She also started the initial setup on my new (i535)Samsung Galaxy III. This phone is 1000x faster than the Charge! 1.5G speed and 2G ram. It is voice interactive. S voice let's you command the phone like the iphone commercial. Lots of new features makes it worth a try. Get out of the Charge and into a galaxy III asap! I really didn't think I wanted another Samsung after the Samsung Charge crashed. The lady at the 2nd store had an "A" game. Jadah is her name. Thanx Jadah. She has a MBA that Verizon helped her get while working in the store. Boy is she sharp! She was not the only one. Everyone in that store was positive and well trained. Great Job store manager! From the minute I walked in I was in a different world. The greeter logged me in an reported where I was in line 3x. He walked up to me and spoke (not speaking across the store I'll be right with you like the first store)  Every customer was happy while I was there. I'm happy to report that the 2nd store was so good I'm forgetting my bad experience at the first location. I also ended up with a new phone for my daughter who is excited.

I had an issue with this site. I can not log into the community on a  mobile. Troy in tech support could not log in mobile either. I can log in on my netbook. Troy is reporting the issue. Troy also was very helpful. Thanx Troy.

I'm sticking with Verizon. They got it right the 2nd time. Smiley Happy
