Screen problems: sensitivity and freezing

I've had my Droid Incredible 2 for about 14 months now and up until about a month and a half ago it was working perfectly. However, gradually the screen began freezing and I had problems with the touchscreen sensitivity. First, whenever I used the vertical keyboard for texts, writing emails, etc., certain letters, like b, h, and y, wouldn't work. Then, when I pressed a certain key, the letters besides those keys would appear and now whenever I press the back button or "delete key" it will instead enter the page a bunch a times and then the letter L will start appearing. Now when I use the horizontal keyboard, similar problems occur and sometimes I will stop writing and random letters will keep appearing by themselves on the phone. To send a simple text message now takes 5 mins instead of 5 secs and it has become completely and utterly inconvenient to use my phone to communicate with people .Other problems include when I try changing screens, from widget to widget page, it will take multiple swipes to change the screen, or when I am scrolling pages, the phone will freeze or zoom in or out randomly. Even the home keys at the bottom of the page will freeze so I can't simply go back on pages. I have re-calibrated this phone at least 20 times and restored it to its factory settings but it still keeps spazzing out. Now I can't retrieve any of my contacts because every time I try to enter my password for back up assistant, the number 2 appears when i press 3. I have heard about rooting droids but I'm not that technologically savvy-should I just go to the store and get a new phone? (I have insurance)

Thanks!

factory reset your device, after 14 months there is a lot of info stored up in there

go to sd and phone storage, factory reset.. it will wipe everything off your phone

Month and half ago...........about the time the new "update" rolled out and mine started doing the same thing. Freezes up a lot and keyboard seems to be what I am using when it does. Also does a lot of reboots whenever I exit an app, no particular app does it. I have factory reset a couple of times and it helped some. I did hear back from HTC and they know of several problems the update has caused and say they are working on a solution. I suspect their solution is to get you to buy an Incredible 4G, LOL

Hello julesmc23,

You have had to deal with a lot over the past month!  Phones have become an important part of our every day lives and you deserve a dependable device!  After restoring the device to factory settings did you immediately install all of the same applications?  Has there been any physical or liquid damage to the device?  I would be glad to discuss your replacement options further.  I am eager to read your reply!

Thank You,

I'm sorry you're experiencing problems with your phone too Dawn! How long have you had it? How long has it been giving you problems? Have we done any troubleshooting on your phone? We have to complete the troubleshooting and see what we can do. If in warranty, and needs to be replaced, it will be replaced with same device, (Certified Like-New). Please follow me and send a Direct Message with your information, (full name on account, 10-digit mobile number, and number you can be reached). Once I receive that, I will follow up with you.

Thank you,
