Security Settings - How to remove the screen lock?

I've had my Druid for almost a year now, and have mastered everything I think I need to know how to work with one exception.  I thought I'd try out the security function of the screen lock using a pattern.  Well, it turns out I can't answer my phone without using the pattern, I can bypass that if I'm on my blue tooth, but I still want to remove it.

So I go into Location & Security, from there the Change Screen Lock option which reads "change or disable pattern, pin, or password security.  But when I select this option I'm asked to confirm the saved pattern, then the next screen gives me 4 options.  The first option, the one that I want is grayed out, and I cannot select it.  The other 3 are to change the pattern, enter a PIN which I don't want, or enter a password..I certainly don't need another password or pin.

So the grayed out selection I want says NONE, and below that disabled by remote phone administrator.  How the heck to I find out how to disable this pattern it's driving me crazy!

Has anyone else experienced this, I don't want to reset the phone and loose all my APS, all my phone settings, my ringers, etc. Etc.

Which android phone do you have? The steps might be slightly different between manufacturers an User Interfaces.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Hi Cherbearella,

And thank you to the community for your responses!

I can assist you with the lock of your Droid 2. I have checked my references and with this device, once you have set a lock on the phone, it does have to be unlocked before a call can be answered (unless using Bluetooth, as you mentioned). This is something that cannot be altered.

However, your device locks on it's own when the screen goes dark, so you may want to remove the lock code you have set up for it, if you want to be able to answer calls without unlocking the screen. You can do this by following the steps below.

Menu

Settings

Location & Security

Change Screen Lock

Enter your current lock code

Select None

I hope this information is helpful and resolves your concerns. Have a good day!

If you read the post, the problem is that None is greyed out.  That is the issue.

Hello again!

I would like to clarify my previous posting.

Once "Change Screen Lock" is pressed in the steps posted, "None" should no longer be greyed out. Pressing "Change Screen Lock" will allow this option to be available.

Cherbearella,

Did the steps work for you? Please let us know either way, so we can make sure you are able to correct the issue you are having with the screen lock.

Thanks and a good day to all,

Is this phone provided to you by  your company?  "Disabled by remote phone administrator" suggests that this is a "policy" (to use Microsoft analogy) set by someone, and they apparently don't want to have the phone without security.  Although it sounds like it was fine until you set one!

If not, I would look to see if some app was set as a device adminstrator (a locate my droid program for example).
