Short playback

I have an unusual problem with music playback. When a track nears the end it switches to the next track 4 seconds before the end. Since I mostly listen to audio books this is very annoying. I have tried several players and have the same problem with all of them. Is there any way to correct this?

Yeah, that is very very annoying. I have about 10GB of music on my X and all the songs end 4 seconds before the actual end.
a fix for the default music player would be great.

Oh...and I totally forgot to add that I use "PLAYER" instead of the default music player and the songs continue right to the end using app "player" I sing it's praises in some other thread somewhere.
so...there's no fix i can find with the default music player but downloading "PLAYER" will fix it.
let me know if it works for you.

I tried Player and still have same problem. Still changes to next track 4 seconds before end. Did you remove the original Music app.

Weird..i just tried it agian in both "player" and the original music player. Unfortunately you can't remove the original music player.
SO...I just noticed something when fiddling around. Is your music library in WMA format?? I just played a bunch of MP3 files and each song played til the very end but when I play WMA every song ends 4 seconds early. I thought it was a problem with which player i am using but it seems to be an issue with WMA and the X.
I am in the process of converting my WMA files to MP3.
Check it out and let me know if that fixes it.

All of my files are wma. This is very strange, but I have found that if I have two media players running at the same time my tracks play to the end. If, for example, I start Player and pause it I can start the default player and it works. Hopefully the Froyo update (if it ever happens) will correct this.

Hmm. I just tried that. I loaded "PLAYER" hit Pause on a song. Went back to home and launched the stock music player.
Now my WMA plays clear to the end.
2.2 won't fix it. I just re-installed the leaked 2.2 and the same thing happens.

Yes, I installed 2.2 and it didn't help at all. I hope someone can find a fix for this. I have 33,000 tracks and 57GB of WMA files. I would really hate to consider converting them all to MP3s. I would rather buy another player and just use the Droid X as a phone.
I wonder if the problem is Verizon or Motorola. Does this happen with Droid 2 or original Droid.

What I recommend converting the file to MP3 format.

Do the EBooks play OK in Kindle? I think Kindle is designed for EBooks.
