Silence "Droid" on Start-up

I have searched the boards and found other answers that have not worked for me.

I have a Droid X2 which says the standard "Drrroid" on start-up. For my previous Droid 1, I was able to easily disable this. I cannot turn this off on my X2. I can't have my phone announcing itself everytime; there should be a way to silence this. I tried turning off every type of sound: ringer, notification, alerts, media. I have also tried disabling the SD card notification. I've tried the Silent Boot application, but that only turns off sounds prior to shut-down, which doesn't work.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

On the DX it is silenced by turning OFF the SD CARD NOTIFICATION   ... strange that isn't working for you.  Unless you're gettig some other notification?

Yes, it seems like that is a common fix people are successful with. I've even turned mine on and then off again to make sure that isn't the problem. Frustrating. The loud "droid"doesn't go over well when my phone reboots itself at work.

Try booting into SAFE MODE -- if the DROID sound doesn't happen with the " SD CARD NO NOTIFICATION" set, then it is likely an APP causing the sound -- time to start uninstalling until the problem goes away.

To get into SAFE MODE:

- Power off

- Press & Hold MENU button

- Press Power up - continue to hold MENU button

Phone will eventually come up saying SAFE MODE in lower left corner.

Does the DROID sound appear?  If it does, then I'm at a loss ... if it does NOT, you have an APP that is generating that notification - time to start researching the APPS.

to get out of Safe mode, power off & on as usual.  Good luck.

BlayneV, thanks for your inquiry, and thank you Cody for your input. I checked and this feature cannot be turned off on the X2. I checked with one of our product team members and they say this is working as designed. It is a Product  & Safety Compliance requirement, which is a Motorola legal requirement for visually impaired users. I understand why a visually impaired person needs to know when the phone is on or off, but I agree you should have the option. I have submitted feedback to see if this can be something we can allow to be turned off in a future software.

My X2 says this to me about 50 times a day since I got it....so annoying to me and my co-workers .  Now that the SD card died yesterday, it does not say it anymore.  One day last week it was stuttering.  D..Drr...DDroi..Drroid..Droid for about 30 seconds....funny but seriously??? I am taking back before my 30 days are up.

Hope you're not in the 2nd half of your 30 day return period.

Try changing the default notification to a silent or a low sound and then setup the emails and sms with custom tones...

Default

Under Settings / Sounds / Notification

gMail:

Open gMail > Left menu button > more > Settings > Scroll to notification area at bottom of list...... All these options works for gMail

Email:

Messaging >Left Menu Button > Message Settings > Email > Notifications........  All these control all email accounts.

Text Messages

Messaging >Left Menu Button > Message Settings > Text Messaging > Scroll to notification area of list........  All these control all SMS and MMS accounts
