So many problems

I have so many problems and can't get any help. This is my last resort.

My droid incredible is an incredible piece of junk. I've had it about a year now, just over actually and it only takes a charge when it feels like it. Its not the battery or my chargers because when it decides to work it works great. Most of the time I plug it in to charge and no lights no nothing though. I can leave it sit like that and sometimes in the middle of the night it will suddenly start to charge... other times it stops charging, the phone turns on and remains on until the battery dies out completely.

I figure the first step is to go online and get some help so I open a chat window... I don't remember by 1-5 digit code though.. no problem she says, I'll send a new one to your phone (which wasn't working of course). I thought now isn't that brilliant.. send a secret code to my broken phone so I can get help with my broken phone. (*FRUSTRATION*

So here I sit, I can't even get online help because I don't remember the stupid code. I don't think I have insurance and I'm guessing the warranty only goes up to one year. If I have to finish the contract for another year paying on a phone that doesn't work I am going to drop every verizon service I have for life, internet, home phone, everything.

Do I have any options at this point? Is there any chance they will cover this seemingly common problem more than one year from purchase?

Cannonman, having issues with your phone is never a good time so I definitely understand your frustration. But don’t worry because I’m here to help!

It seems the issue is with the charger or charging port on the device. Does the charging port seem loose? Have you tried a different charger? Has there been any damage on the phone?

If the phone does not have any damage and is under the warranty we can replace it at no cost. Please send me a direct message with your name and number so I can access your account and see what options are available for you.

John B,  No, there is no damage to the phone, I have been carefull with it, no drops, no getting wet, nothing like that. The problem is not with the charger or battery, I have tried several different chargers and it's the same. When it does it work, it works great just like a new phone but it has been working less and less often. In fact, I haven't been able to charge the phone for several days now. Its nothing but a paper weight at this point. It simply doesn't recognize that its being plugged in to charge, no orange light or anything. The charging port doesn't seem loose to me, not that I can tell anyhow. My name is <Personal information deleted for privacy.> and  my phone number is <Personal information deleted for privacy.> I don't know if its under warranty or if I have insurance because I was not able to access my account, I don't remember the magic 1-5 digit code and I guess the only other way to verify who I am is to send a message to my phone that doesn't work. Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give- Paul

cannon ~ There is definitely an issue here... There was/is another thread here with 80+ on the exact same issue. I had  a new battery and charger sent to me from Verizon and it was great for about a month and now back to what you describe... charging when it feels like it. At night I sat there watching it charge. In the morning I wake up to see a green light, unplug it, only to ge an 11% charge battery low warning!

I don't know what happens in-between me plugging it in, and seeing a green full battery light and finding that crazy making message. My phone has never been dropped, the port seems fine. etc.. Isn't it annoying?

Short of holding it's hand all night long... I am ready to damage it myself by throwing it on the ground and jumping on it! lol.

If you find an answer please post it here.

Thanks!

Verizon doesn't seem to want to help me because I can't remember my special password and the only way they can send a new one is to my phone that does not work at all any more.

Just thought I would update, I have had a paper weight of a phone for weeks now. I have gotten nowhere with verizon, nobody can help me even find out if I have freaking insurance or if my phone is still under warranty.. I really can't believe this is happening. I don't know the secret code I gave them and my phone is dead...just keep paying the bill.

After reading how many people this has happened to I'm just SICK. They should have a recall on this DROID 2 JUNK. I am going to have to pay to close out my account early probably.. but then I'm going to cancel every verizon account I have, my home phone, my internet service, all of it. I have gotten no help at all.

The Droid incredible 2 is junk that stops workng after your warrant runs out, will never use this company again.

I couldn't say it any better than this. I too have a paper weight now and all I can do is pay the bill. This so called Droid/smart phone is a piece of shit. If it didn't cost so much I would crush this junk with my hand.

Five ideas.

(1) Have you looked into a wireless charging pad accessory ? I don't know anything more about it other than it exists, and Verizon's website lists it as being compatible with the 'Droid Incredible 2'. Apparently two items are required for this: the wireless charging pad and a special battery door

Wireless Charging Pad (Part#: UNIWRLCHG)

http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/accessory?action=accessoryDetails&accessoryId=47605

Wireless Charging Inductive Battery Cover

(Part#: HTC6350-WLDR)

http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/accessory?action=accessoryDetails&accessoryId=47610

(2) This thread says that there is an item calling a docking station that will make it possible to charge just the battery by itself.

http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-incredible-2/400929-broken-charging-port.html

(3) This thread has links to information about repairing the charging port yourself

http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-incredible-2/439437-charging-port-loose-not-working.html

(4) Maybe you purchased this phone with one of the credit cards that extends the manufacturer's warranty by another year

(5) If Verizon continues to maintain that texting a password is the only way to reset the password on your account, then how about temporarily activating a different phone in place of this defective one ? Do you have a spare phone that you've never thrown out or donated ? Maybe a friend, family member, or person from work could temporarily loan you a Verizon phone for a few minutes ? I say "a few minutes" because one time we had to reset the password; the password was texted nearly immediately after submitting a request online to reset the password.

What you could do, too, as a last resort if you or someone you know does not have a spare is purchase from ebay the cheapest-cost Verizon phone that is still in working condition so that you can temporarily activate that in place of your phone. There's probably something in working condition that you could buy for $ 10 to $ 30.

I'm assuming that activating a different phone in place of a smartphone is as simple as it is in place of a non-smartphone. When replacing one non-smartphone with another one, I just have to dial *228 and choose option '1'.

Also, this person says that there's another way to reset a password:

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_get_your_billing_password_for_Verizon

"If you do not remember your billing password for Verizon Wireless, the only solution is to have it reset. The only way to have this done is call customer service and tell them you forgot it. This must be done by the account holder. They will ask you a series of questions and may make a call to your cell phone to further authenticate you own the account then reset the password for you."
