Stock clock...configure to be always ON?

The stock clock on the screen is apparently programmed to go OFF when the screen is unlocked.   Is there a way to have it

stay ON, after unlocking the screen?

 

Or do I have to go to an aftermarket app, such as Beautiful Widgets or Weather&Toggle?
