hmm...bummer ..  sounds like it's 'broken' ...  You re-pulled the battery and left it out for like1 min.?  Still stuck at boot up?

You can get to Boot Loader? Might just for grins see if you can get into SAFE MODE? (let me know if you can't find the procedure).

Otherwise, might be time to try to just Factory Reset it from the Boot loader menu..  If you take it to Verizon, they will likely do this anyway.

Safe Mode:

1. Power Off phone

2. Press & Hold the MENU Button (far left hard button)

3. While Holding MENU, power up phone - continue to hold MENU button !!

After about 1-2 mins. the phone will say SAFE MODE in lower left corner.

To get out of SAFE MODE, just power off/on as usual.

Do you have a Droid X or Droid X2 ??  The factory reset process is different for each.

2 things:

- If you have pics or music or video on the SD Card that you must save, I would remove the SD Card to start this process. I'm pretty sure it will allow you to Factory Reset without the card in ...  but I haven't personally tried that.

- Market will NOT remember your FREE apps ...  I would go online to your android market and make a list of all the APPS that you downloaded.  The paid-for ones will be remembered.

Boot in Recovery Mode Wipe: - Wipes system configuration settings and loads default settings but keeps personal data saved on system, normally used to recover from a none boot status without loosing personal data.  There is times that Personal Data gets wiped also with this process..

Power Device Off First.....

1. Hold Home Button and press power (Home is the 2nd button from the Left)

2. Screen will show a Android with a triangle with astrick

3. Let Go of Home Button and Power

4. Press BOTH up & down volume buttons at same time

5. A blue menu will show at top of page, using volume control buttons, scroll to Format Device and press the Power button to select

6. Select Yes to verify

7. Allow format to complete (Information at bottom of page will go through a few steps)

8. Once Format is complete Blue Menu will show at top again, select Reboot

Note: Use volume up and down to select opinion and use Power button as Enter

I almost sounds like you damaged the hardware that allows those controls to work ... good luck.

Hi crazzzme1,

A "Thank you" goes out to Cody21 for your assistance.

I know that Cody21 already gave you the information about safe mode, but I want to explain that you are correct about purchasing the phone used. It does seem that the phone is malfunctioning due to dropping it, after reading both your posts, and Cody21's posts.

Have you checked to see if you are able to get a new phone. You can check and see if your line is eligible for an equipment discount by calling 1-800-922-0204 and following the prompts. This information can also be obtained online at My Verizon. If you are able to make a call from the phone at all, just dial #UPG (#874) and send. You will receive a free message with the information.

If you find that you are not eligible right now for a discount off the cost of a new phone. We also offer Certified Pre-Owned devices, that are a great value. They cost much less than full retail, there is no contractual obligation, they are insurable, and there is a new 12-month warranty on them. Here is a link so you can check out the devices.

Of course, you do have the option of purchasing a new device at the full retail price. Or, you can obtain one from a 3rd party.

I hope you find this information helpful. Thanks and have a good day!
