Sync Contacts & Calendar to Droid

I've always used wireless sync with my Motorola Q to essentially back up my contacts and calendar.   So I activated my new Droid this morning (thereby deactivating my Q) and I figured I would just "sync" and see my contacts and calendar on the new device.  But I don't.

After the fact, I'm searching for some guidance on this and it seems like I should have downloaded something onto my Q (Backup something or other) that requires a $1.99 subscription before deactivating it and then I guess there's some process (saving to comma sep file, etc.).

So now I don't have my contacts or calendar from the other phone.  When I try to "Manage My Contacts" at the V-wireless website, I'm terminally kept in this tutorial loop telling me how to subscribe to the "Backup" application that supposedly allows me to do this.

Does anyone have another solution? Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?  I'm not a technical person so spare yourselves the time if your solution requires a screwdriver and soldering gun.

Duh.  Okay, this was pretty simple.  I opened Google contacs and calendar, imported Outlook from my desktop that the Q was synced to then synced the Droid to the google apps.
