Sync issues every time

I continue to have problems with my incredible connecting with my PC.  It wont Sync as a disc drive or as an HTC Sync.  it will "charge only" with the USB but computer will not recognize it as a disk drive.  I have tried other computers with the same results.  I have checked my pc and no issues there.  This is my third incredible, love the phone but the quirks are not fun.

What operating system do you have on your PC??

Have you downloaded the Sync software from HTC.com???

When you plug the device into your PC, have you pulled down the notification bar and press on the Charge Only line??? If so, what happens???

I have the same problems. I have downloaded the lates version of sync. Nothing.

It connected once, after a lot of messing around. I wasn't even sure what the final trick was.

I find it interesting that the phone can kick off the annoying auto-open web page, but can't connect.

I keep seeing mention of clicking the notification tab and then select *whatever*. I get nothing in the notification bar when connected...

@Rashy, After you connect the phone to your PC via USB, unlock your phone and tap on Menu-> Notifications. You will see an item on the Notification panel that says "Charge Only". Tap on that message. It will open a "Connect to PC" dialog which has the options to either connect in Charge Only mode, HTC Sync Mode or Disk Mode.

If you want to use the HTC Sync software, you should switch to the HTC Sync mode. If you want to use your phone storage or sd card storage as drive letters to transfer files, you should switch the mode to Disk Mode.

Hope this helps!
