TEXT MSG KEYBOARD ISSUES

recently whenever i use either the default text messaging system or the handcent app for texting that i downloaded, the keyboard will drag when i type in the letters and then after each word when i hit the space, the keyboard will drop down and i have to pull it back up for each word.  it isnt necessarily freezing so much as it is just going really slow and doesnt keep up with my typing and then the keyboard has a mind of its own! and just goes away after every word or every other word.  i tried uninstalling every text msging app except the default one and it still does it with that one.  the catch is, the keyboard is only messing up like this with texting, i typed in my email and on the browser and the keyboard works just fine.  so i am clueless as to what the issue is and how to fix it...pleeeeeeaaaasseee help because its driving me insane!!

If you have the vibrate or sound option on for keyboard, turn them off because they cause lagging issue and as for the keyboard hides all you have to do is hold the menu (Far Left button) and the keyboard will return..

Disable sound and vibrate by going to Settings / Launguage and Keyboard / Multitouch Keyboard / uncheck Sound on key press and Vibrate option..

thank you so much..i turned off the vibrate because i did have that on.  and it actually did help a little bit to where i can get more than one word typed out lol butttttt with the keyboard, i know how to get it to come back up and everything but it literally disappears after almost every single word once i hit the space key, it just drops down and takes forever to bring it back up.

Go into Settings - Applications - Manage Apps - Select your keyboard AND texting apps - and select Clear Cache for each of them. Also do this for any email apps you may have, as I've found the 2 go hand in hand when clearing cache. Fixed it right up for me.

If that doesn't work, just download a keyboard app from the market. There are plenty for free and most are way better than the stock app. I recommend Swiftkey Beta X, and I know a lot of other people on this forum use this as well.

Hello clreeves10!

I would be happy to assist you with syncing and linking your Facebook contacts back with your phone contacts!

First, have you removed your friends Facebook account from your DROID X?  From your home screen touch the up arrow to display all of your applications, then touch "My Accounts".  Touch and hold the Facebook account you wish to remove, then touch "Open account" to edit it, or touch "Remove account" to remove it (along with its contacts and messages).  Then you can re-add your Facebook account from the same screen by selecting "Add account" and entering your Facebook username and password.  This will allow you to resync your Facebook contacts with the contact application on your device.  To change which contacts are shown and how they are sorted, touch Menu > Display options.

I trust I have answered your questions and addressed your concerns.

Back to the original issue with the stock keyboard, if you also clear data, not cache, that fixes it.
