first off i LOVE my phone DROID X. I have not had ANY problems with it except the touch screen at one point but i did a soft reset and its worked fine since. However the past few weeks I have had some issues with sending texts. Some people I can send them no problem but others I cant. A lot of the users are Verizon too. but today I have gotten A LOT of red Xs saying text messages were not sent.
I work such long hours so its difficult for me to get to a store...is there anything I can try on my own ? if so please give me step by step directions Thanks!!

Just thought of this... In your contacts that you text, do you have a 1 in front of their number? Or is it just a standard 10 digit number? Make sure you don't have a 1 in front and that you DO have an area code.
As for your yahoo notifications, go to Settings -- Applications -- Manage Apps -- select Yahoo, and select "Clear Cache"
If that doesn't work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

They don't send at all, even if you try to re-send them?
Hmm... I would try dialing *228 option 2 to update your roaming and connect you to the nearest tower...How is your signal when you're having this issue?

I dont think they go through at all. I know my old phone sometimes it would say it went through and wehn i tried to resend the other person would get a few of the same message. but this time with Droid X its not going through at all even after i try to Resend. I noticed it first with one of my friends and it was only with that person. then noticed it happening to more and more people.
Signal is fine.
I will try the update and see if that works. I have not done that and i always forget to.

I've had this issue as well, though never to the extent that it wouldn't go through at all to several people.
I've had it to where my texts would take over an hour to send to another person on Verizon, and vice versa.
I never did find a solid fix for that, it still happens every now and then, and it has with every phone I've had.

After sending, have you gone into your online MY VERIZON account and checked the logs there to see if Verizon actually got your text? Lookin under your PLAN there for DATA. I would check that ... it MAY not be an issue on the phone itself but your SMS services.
Also, which text messaging app are you using?
