Here we go again with the "what about us" garbage.

Anyone know how to block a user who just wants to post negative comments instead of contributing to the better of the community? If I wanted such a childish response, I would post in the Apple Insider forums. What you seem to be unable to grasp is that if new X's were coming with 2.2, there is no reason why existing owners should not be entitled to the same software. While the news article may not be accurate, there are those of us waiting for 2.2 who would like to know if there is truth to such stories. There are several benifits that 2.2 brings that would leave early adopters feeling stepped on if they were the last to get something that newer owners are getting on the same exact hardware. If you bought a new TV, and the next day it went on sale for $100 off, wouldnt you feel entitled to getting the same price people buying after you get (Within reasonable time limits of course)? The only thing garbage here is that you feel the need to pointlessly vent your anger. If you are truly just in what you said, then please explain why it is pure garbage that I should not be able to get a software update at the same time as others if the story that Verizon has yet to deny was true?

I think that one of the reasons that so many are concerned about getting the 2.2 Froyo update for their Droid X's is that from what I read on these forums, there are quite a few issues with the Droid X, such as poor volume and several other important issues that most are hoping will be fixed with the 2.2 Froyo update.

To those who find it necessary to berate the ones who have these concerns and label them as "whiners", etc., that is a very childish response and has no place on what is supposed to be an adult forum.  Let's all be nice and treat each other with respect.

@crb79 I don't feel so, but you are free to read it however you like. I felt like explaining why I would want to question why we might not be getting something others are getting. As it has been pointed out by hope12839 there are also updates we are waiting on that affect how we use our equipment, and the quality of its operation. The issues are very minor, and the phone still delivers, but it will be better when we get the update. Because of this, I would like to get the update as soon as possible, but I can wait until it is released. While the news article may not be true, if it were true, you cant truly say you would not feel a little let down that you are still going to have to wait for something everyone else is getting that would fix some issues and improve the overall performance of your phone. It's not exactly a huge expectation to have if the situation were to be true. And yes, I am long winded most of the time, so if you dont want to read a huge wall of text, dont read what I post :smileytongue:

No worries I didn't read anything but the first and last lines on both posts.  But that's just because I believe if someone can't waste the time to write something in an easy to read format I can't waste the time to read it.  I don't intend that as an insult or anything just mentioning it since you brought up the topic.

You posted a link to a report that was flat out a lie.  I do not believe the other poster was calling your post an expletive, but rather the report you linked.  And if you've viewed these forums lately, you will notice many posts that are no doubt fan-boys/girls of other phones just taking digs against VZW and the Droid X.

I do find it quite comical that someone would go to a forum for another device/carrier just to berate it.  I guess I just have better things to do with my time.

Edit:  Those who are expecting the Android 2.2 to fix some of the phone specific issues really should do some reading up on the 2.2, and on how phone updates work.  Most often Hot-Fixes are released, such as the update from 7-19, by the phone manufacturer to fix issues with the phone itself.  The 2.2 update is an operating system update.

It's kinda like Hot-fixes are comparable to updated Device drivers for your computer, and the Operating System update is like upgrading from Win XP to Vista.

I read through all the posts on this thread and I don't see any reason why we should not say why not us... why not now.

Here is a little perspective.  Droid 1 is inferior to the Droid X.  It has Android 2.2.  The newly launched Droid 2.  Very similar to the Droid X as far as hard ware goes.  The only real difference is the camera.  Droid 2 has a 5 mp camera and the DX has an 8 mp camera.  Again, Droid 2 has Android 2.2.

So I ask the question.  Why are we being forced to wait.  Considering that the X is supposed to be the Flag Ship smart phone in the Android group, I am terribly surprised AT&T has not taken any swipes at Verizon for having so many issues with getting this software update out.

Verizon did that lovely commercial, "There's Map for That", so turn about would only be fair play if AT&T did something along the lines of, "Droid X users waiting for Android 2.2... there's no app for that."  Then they could further tear us all down by touting how software upgrades to the Iphone can be downloaded right from Itunes... at home or on the go.

People need to realize that the only official information on the Droid X is going to be from Motorola or Verizon Wireless.

Just because something seems to be the same does not make it the same, actually if you research the internal componites of the Droid 2, you will realize that over all the hardware is closer to the original Droid than the Droid X, also you have to take in consideration the programming that went into each device....

All custom mods like custom setting interface, ui changes and many other factors have to go into consideration when making software compatible and also if you looked over at the Droid 2 site there appears to be issues with the 2.2 software and a number of fixes has been released for Droid 2 to resolve those issues, which means it needed more testing.

It wont help if they release it before it really has been tested because then so many will be complaining about the issues that came from doing the update, check over at androidcentral.com and see the complaints posted about the leaked version and it isnt even a completed build, so how will everyone react to a final build having issues..
