The current rumor and mind you it is just that a rumor is that the Hero will be getting the update in mid March. Now is that because of Sprint or HTC or what. Might Verizon's Eris get it sooner. It is possible if HTC has completed the update and the issue is with Sprint then the timeline is based on the carrier's testing and having the system set up and ready for an OTA of that size.
It stands to reason that HTC might be part of the slow down. They did have the software first but they were focused on getting the N1 out and then all the issues that came up that needed an update to fix. they have been a bit preoccupied lately so it might be that it took them a minute to get the update for the hero based phones situated.

You and JayJay1122 are absolutely correct. My apologies for the snarky answer.
Group hug??
Do we have to hug, can't we just "hi five" or "fist bump"?

I don't think so. Motorola had posted a list of fixes and enhancements on their site the other day, then pulled it a short time later. Phandroid has a screen shot: Motorola’s Droid 2.1 Info Page Removed – Screenshots Inside
I'm guessing an issue was found late in the Q/A process that Motorola decided to fix. Or you could go with one of the many conspiracy theories floating around that Motorola is evil, mean, uncaring, etc., etc. etc.

It was because they released the notes too early. A mod announced it on the forums over at motorola.com.

True, but the OTA update has not begun as far as I can tell and the week is pretty much over. Coincidence?

Probably. I don't think Motorola would release the notes for an OTA update and not one person recieve it, only to call it a QA issue. I think someone might have just slipped up and made a mistake.

Found this at Android Central. Not saying it's 100% accurate, just passing it on. Verizon employees told Droid 2.1 update is 'expected to roll out soon'
