Ok, I was about to cancell my verizon account to open an account with ATT and getting the Iphone4. Droid X comes out and I decide to re activate my verizon account, use a credit card to place order for the droid x, which was charged right away and Now I don't even have a shipping number to track the phone. Probably because Verizon dont even know when I will get it. Ohh, I go to the mall and they have one left, but they can not give it to me because I had already place an order online. What full of Crap is this!!!!!!
I am thinking of going to ATT and getting one of those new Retina screen iphone 4. Not all phones are perfect, so antenna issue with the Iphone 4 but camera issues with the droid x. I read that some people still have not received their android phones cause they are back ordered. What a full of crap....
If I dont get my phone by Friday, I am cancelling the order and getting my iphone4. The iphone is also a very good choice, most of the people I know carry iphone4, i actually have not meet anyone with any flavor of droid....

I assure you that you do not want to trouble yourself with the iphone4. Trust me. I don't mind the fact that I would have to put it in a case because that is what I was going to do anyway, but there was still the issue of the speakerphone mic not picking up sound very well even when yelling into the mic. The droid x may have some minor issues but I assure you it is nothing like the iphone 4. I cancelled my att contract and incurred an ETF and am more than ok with that. I had been with ATT for 6 years. Like I said, the Droid X needs a little tweaking but you will be very dissatisfied with the iphone 4. You may just need to see for yourself

maybe you should just keep this as internal dialoge, no one cares, and posting it on a forums is not going to to get you your phone faster

Thanks for the suggestion. Will take your advice and wait. Probably I am just so eager to get my hands on the droid and dislike the way they market. Think about it, why not make sure they have enough phones before they go on sale. It is just common sense, specially bacause they have a log of all the pre orders.
Thanks for the tip and I will wait for my X.

I had a series of mixed emotions when I was waiting for my Droid X and the order seemed as though I wasn't going to get it on the 16th as promised. I did receive it on the 16th and all is well. I was concerned as an iphone user since the first one that I would have trouble converting. Everything has worked just fine for me.

The problem is VZW had no real way of knowing how well the Droid X would sell. They believed they had a large enough batch on hand to meet demand.
If an issue with supply did arise after a launch date had been announced, it would have still rolled on. With any company that reports to a Board of Directors, or Investors dates are nearly set in stone and require an Act of God to change.

They have now changed the shipping date to 08/03 .This is getting to be a little ridiculous if mine does not ship by 7/27 I will just stay where I'm at.Just not worth the hassle.

I'm sorry but the iPhone is so over hyped and not worth it. Frankly, it's a piece of junk in my eyes. Android is the future and that is now.

But you have to also be able to get the Droid X the release of it hasn't been any better by Verizon then the Iphone release by AT&T.I 'm moving to Verizon due to all the supposably better CS and to be honest even before I have my phones and service it hasn't been close to what I've gotten with AT&T.
Just noticed that they have already charged my card for the thing but no sign of shipping.

I would not rely to heavily on the shipping updates with either Verizon or Fed-Ex. Mine never showed up on the Verizon website until after I received the phone. Fed-Ex shipping was about 11 hours behind also. You need to call and speak with a supervisor to be more certain of what is going on.

I really, REALLY feel for the people having the order and delivery troubles. It really stinks. I did have a 3-week wait on an iPhone 3Gs 2 years ago before I wised up.
Having said this, I'm glad to see this kind of angst and aggravation over a phone besides the iPhone. I'm not happy at all that it's happened, but at least the Android thing is catching on. Here's hoping for the best for everyone waiting...

I feel your pain re. Verizon customer service. Spotty on their better days. But the voice and data service have been steller on my new X. No one drop since I received the phone on July 21. Great data service.
I've been on the other side of the fence with an iP4 and returned it. Call drops galore. Also lost bits of conversation on marginal calls. And I had to learn a completely new way to hold the phone because my normal way of use is to hold it in my left hand as I manipulate the screen with my right. My data service slowed to a crawl because the antenna gap was directly against my left palm (the data side of the death touch issue). When I held it for a while in a way that I left the spot uncovered, my hand felt like it was cramping up.
I considered just getting the rubberband case, but then I change what was a sleek, attractive device to one that is thick, dumpy, and ugly. I also worried that they have a little bit of silicone rubber drag to them, and when I pulled the phone out of my pocket it would drag on the fabric. Not a big deal, but I thought it might increase the chances of me dropping the phone if I was at all distracted when a call arrived.
Retina screen is beautiful to look at, but I was hoping to be able to resolve smaller text with it. No help. I couldn't resolve any smaller text with the iP4 than I could with my iPod Touch. My eyes are the limiting factor, not screen resolution. I needed a bigger screen, not higher resolution. The X fit the bill perfectly in that regard. Another beautiful screen, but larger so it allows me to blow up text a little more while keeping the whole line on the screen at once. A big advantage.
Camera is also nice, but that is not a high priority for me. Droid camera is also nice. Can't tell which is better from personal experience, but I've read enough uniformly glowing praise for the iP4 camera to believe it is likely better.
I also indirectly experienced a 3rd issue with the iP4 after I had returned it. Shattering of the screen. There are reports of relatively mild impacts causing destroying the screen. Just enough, it seems, to chip the edge of the glass. And when you chip tempered glass, it shatters. This is due to 2 issues. First, the edges of the glass of the iP4 are exposed and unprotected, whereas with all other smartphones the edges of the glass are enclosed within the bezel of the case. It is much easier to chip an edge than it is the center of a piece of glass, and even the smallest chip in tempered glass (used in all smartphone screens) is enough to cause the glass to shatter. The 2nd issue is that the LCD is glued to the back of the glass of the iP4. So, while in another phone the glass can break and the LCD can survive; with the iP4, if you break the glass you must also replace the LCD. This greatly increases the cost of the repair (more than you paid for the phone if it was purchased with a service plan).
So, good luck with whatever you decide. I am very happy with my decision to drop the iP4 and buy a Droid X.

I was lucky in getting mine. There are small franchise Verizon stores. Each one got 3 phones. My daughter lives near one and she put in the order and paid for it. So I got mine.
Stay with Verizon. There were a few batches of phones with screen problems. When people brought them in they were given new ones, unlike Apple. And Verizon really does have the coverage.
P.S. I don't work for them and I don't have stock. I have had cell phones going back to one where the battery was heavy enough to break a skull. This phone is the best yet.

You should think twice about cancelling the droid. Im not a smartphone user but since i got mine its been easy to use the help center its great online support is great and the coverage its far better than Iphone service I know my kids have Iphones and regret changing over. Give it a chance and use the help center on the phone and the online service in your My verizon and of course the community can help you as well.

I seem to be VERY satisfied about this phone ,it even seems to be faster than my notebook. No prolems with this phone at all EXCEPT for the basics of a desktop hardware not included (I did get the plugin and cord for 120V plugin and presently using the cord plugged into a USB port on the notebook. Notewbook did recognize it right away too.

{please keep your posts courteous} There are people still waiting for the droid x that bought them on day one, {please keep your posts courteous} If you are going to cancel the phone then cancel the phone,{please keep your posts courteous} By the way the droid x is far superior to the Iphone4, and the camera is fine, its ten times better. Sorry but you need to use the phone yourself before making accusations that the camera sucks.

You do realize that is for newly placed orders right? They're still taking orders on them and they can't keep the same date up forever. They're only getting so many at a time.
