Touch screen glitches when phone is charging

Whenever phone is charging the touch screen is very glitchy and impossible to type on the touch screen (virtual) keyboard. Thankfully, there is a physical keyboard but still the screen navigation is hindered by this effect

Are you using the charger that came with it or another one?

I've read that using chargers that were meant for other devices can cause issues like you are describing.

Yes I am using the stock charger cable it came with (everything is stock). It seems to do the same when plugged into the wall or a PC as long as its charging. It charges fine but its just that the touch screen freaks out when I touch it. I notice it more since I use the swype to type my messages.

Try a battery pull.

If that doesn't work, I hate to suggest it but try a factory reset.

If that doesn't work, return it for a new one.

Yeah I'll see what I can do. Seems like there could be a loose ground somewhere inside the phone charging area. I was just concerned if this is an isolated problem or if anyone else had noticed it on theirs.

Like I said before however, I only noticed it when swiping, not tapping things- to inlude scrolling

Yeah, I've never used swype, but I haven't read about any issues like the ones you're reporting except when people used incorrect chargers.

Sure do, and it does not help with the situation. I dont think it would be anything I would have installed either since it is a brand new phone and I barely tapped into the market d/l-ing things. Seems more like a hardware issue b/c it works just fine when not charging

Well, if anyone reads this and has a Droid 2, it would be really cool to let me know if u charge your phone and try to use swype and if it gets glitchy or not (before I trade mine in for one that has the same problem) And btw- Swype is tight- Super fast txting & easy to use. It is the future of txt messaging.

Just plugged mine into the computer, turned on swype, typed a text message, no problems.

ok thats interesting. But thanks for trying. I just tried myself again and at first it works fine. The times I've noticed it was after its been charged in for a short while and i wake it up and start typing. Seems my screen is only glitchy in some areas- mostly the lower left around the "E" & "S". (from what I can remember) So technically, I can sucessfully type a message as long as I stay on the right side of the keypad (if holding upright, aka vertical)

But now of course I cannot duplicate the condition- Seems my phone is not in the mood. :robotindifferent:  Gotta film it happening and I'll be back to post my results

Mine does the same thing and its brand new too. It drives me crazy. I just make sure it's fully charged. The car charger seems to do it more then the wall charger.

Swype is a typing app that comes installed on the Droid 2 and other phones.

It is a keyboard software that makes it incredibly fast to type (world record).

It works by placing the finget on the screen at the first letter of the word you want to type, then you move (without lifting finger) to the next letters of the word.

It takes some getting used to, but it is now the only way I respond to text messages.

When your on screen keyboard pops up click the bottom left botton for a little more information.

I have a new phone (1 day old) and same issue - when I initially plug in the charger, swype stops working. This isn't a problem when the phone is fully charged. Good to know that the solution is to simply unplug.

Swype is a great tool. Happy to have it!

This also happens with my brand-new Droid 2.  I am using the charger it came with.

Also, which is really annoying, I left it on last night while it was charging and it made 12 phone calls between 5am and 7:30am, all on its own!   Has anyone else had this problem?  I had a Droid Devour (btw, worst phone ever), and it did that one night also, plus sent texts and emails.

Does anyone else have the problem where the phone makes calls overnight?

I have the same exact problem if I use my old LG cord from my Env2.  As long as I'm using the stock cable I have no issues.

Try doing  a soft reset on the phone by powering the device off, then back on.

Then dial *228 send and option 1 on the device.

Make sure when charging the device, that  the phone is face up on a level surface and nothing is on the screen of the phone.

Try closing unused applications that are running  in the back ground before charging.

From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located at the bottom of the display).
Touch Settings.
Touch Applications.
Touch Running services.
Touch a service.
Touch Stop.
