Trying to upgrade my 2GB memory card to 8GB

My X came with a 2GB memory card, which most I understand come with a 16GB.  I am trying to upgrade it, but I cannot move the files from my phone's card to my PC.  Is there another way?

Are you talking about the SD Card ?? I suspect you are - it's the one you can actually replace under the battery door.

The best way to do this is to just plug into your PC with the USB cable and use File Explorer on your PC to Open the SD card. From there you simply Drag & Drop the files.  What happens when you try to do that? Did you install the Moto device driver 1st on the PC?

Yes, it is my SD card and I have installed the driver.  It begins copying the files over to my PC and then gets hung up.  When I try to move the folders individually, they move over to the PC, with nothing in them.  It is strange.

very strange ...   almost sounds like somethin is corrupted on the card.  Have you tried creating the Folder on the PC & manually moving/coping files a few at a time --  just to try to maybe isolate what is corrupted??

And are you trying to copy ALL of the APP-specific files??  or just pics, music, etc??  Reason I say that is that you might be better off uninstalling the APPS and reinstalling them to the new card afterwards.  That's probably the approach I would take. Just make a list of APPS installed on the card and go from there. Or even MOVE the APPs back to the Internal Memory Card temporarily, then MOVE them Back (using MENU / SETTINGS / APPLICATIONS / MANAGE APPLICATIONS)

just some thoughts.  good luck.

I updated the driver on my PC and now it worked.  I was able to move them on to my PC and now I"m in the process of moving everything back to my new card.

Thanks everyone.

Actually, it was several months. When the subsidized price of the Droid X dropped to $99, THIS is when they switched to 2GB cards, I believe.
