Hi Myky413,

In order for your computer to recognize your device, you need to sync it to the computer with the proper software drivers and the following steps. You can find the latest version of HTC Sync and drivers from Support section of at the link to the website with further information: http://www.htc.com/us/support/droid-eris-Verizon/help/synchronization

After you have obtained the needed software and installed it on your computer, run HTC Sync. Then connect the phone to the computer using the provided USB cable. Then from your the phone, drag the notifications bar down and tap on HTC Sync. The first time you synchronize the phone, the Synchronization Settings Wizard starts automatically to help you set up HTC Sync. Then select the PC application you want to synchronize with and then select the categories you want to synchronize. Then select when to synchronize data and then check the settings that you have chosen. The website link above also has more information about the process.

Thanks,

That happens to me on a regular basis.  Something about the physical connection of the cable to the computer.  Unplug it and re plug.  Change to a different USB Port on the computer.

yeah same here...

the 'HTC' seems to be recognized as a disk drive, or anything BUT a modem, ... until you unplug & replug & then all of a sudden... it works...

really great when it works, but it's kind of a pain figuring out what voodoo spell of the day is needed to tether it to the PC...

I've had my Incredible since December and it was only last week that I started having this problem. Another message I received was that the device malfunctioned. I'm thinking of calling VZW customer service.

well good friends & neighbors, it took me almost an hour of unplugging, reconfiguring, uninstalling, rebooting, & reinstalling to get on the damned thang... & this is after merely turning off the PC, .. going to sleep,.. waking up,.. going to work,.. coming home,.. & re-tethering,.. after a fresh boot... I was SOOOO pleased....

and then on top of that, the overage charges can bite ...

the 1st 2 gigs don't cost much but after that... ouch...

I don't wanna get bit...

probably gonna turn it off...
