Unable to get data working while in the UK.

Hi. I am currently in England with Droid 2 global. It is signing on as Vodafone UK. `i have plenty of bars.

But there is no internet connection, no data. Can't check Gmail, twitter, etc.

I go to WIRELESS AND NETWORKS under settings, and under MOBILE NETWORKS I see that NETWORK MODE  is set to preferred Network is set to "global." Should it be set to anything else like GSM/UMTS? if so, then it will give me options of SELECT NETWORK and `operator selection, please let me know/` thanks. oh by the way before coming, i set up by calling *228 and chooseing option 2 it said ok. I also bought a 30$ global data package so it won't be expensive roaming. please let me know how to get this droid working for global data in the uk thanks. alan

Mmm, I just got back (today) from the UK and was using my Droid 2 Global there fine.  However, I was using a local SIM, I assume that you are using the SIM that came with the phone?

Did Global Services activate your SIM?   It sounds like they may not have done this if you are not getting a signal.  Have you tried contacting them at their collect number?

It should save battery (and maybe increase the speed with which the signal is acquired) to switch the network mode to GSM/UMTS and leave the rest of the setting to default.

Finally, what $30 global data package?  The old one was $65 per month, and is now hard to get.....

You need to make sure your SIM card was activated in order to use your phone in the UK. Since you are out of the USA you can contact our Global Support team for assistance. They can be reached at 908-559-4899 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Hope this helps, please feel free to contact us back if you need more assistance.
