I just spent over an hour with cusotmer support, they are refusing to help, claiming that without these applications my phone would nto work
Thanks, ALEKS...

Hello aleksgollu! Unfortunately, preinstalled applications can not be removed from the phone.

It is correct, you cannot uninstall them. However you need not worry as their size is small and if you don't use them they will just be useless junk in the apps drawer.
The CityId will ask you to buy the app after it's free trial, just click no and it won't bother you any more.

I cannot trust the truthfullness of the answer:
"preinstalled applications can not be removed from the phone"
I would have respected the following answer:
"We will not allow you to uninstall these applications because of existing marketing agreements"
{edit for TOS violation}

Size is one issue, using up real estate on the application list screen is another...
But ultimately it boils down to the following question: "Whose phone am I using"
If the answer is mine then I ask:
"Can I get some kick-backs for hosting unsolicited advertising on MY phone"

Your kickbacks are given in the form of the rebate and discounted price you paid for the device. Enjoy.
As I stated in response in the other thread, If you root your phone and remove those apps you run the risk of bricking your phone. It also voids your warranty.

But wait...heavens to Betsy, Sprint puts un-installable apps on their phones, too. Glory be...
Well, you will just have to get an AT&T phone then.
But wait....gee willikers, Timmy, AT&T puts un-
installable apps on their phones, too. Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle, who knew...
Perhaps you try T-Mobile...no, wait, they....OKAY, this is getting old, have you figured out where this is
going yet?

Wow! You must have a whole heckuva lot of those apps. I don't even notice the ones on mine.

I believe LauncherPro will allow you to hide apps. LP is a free app, and no...I'm not getting any kickbacks for suggesting it.
I have channels on my TV that I never watch. Wish I could get a break on my bill.

You knew when you CHOSE to purchase the phone that it had pre-installed apps that couldn't be removed, yet you still CHOSE to buy it. If you didn't know, then YOU didn't do YOUR research and so you have nobody to complain to but yourself. Either way, quite belly-aching about an issue that is a standard business practice everybody in the electronics world participates in from phones to computers to gaming consoles to cable boxes.
