My name is Randall and I live in Costa Rica, I bought a Droid 2 on Amazon, the person who sold me the phone said it was unlocked and was not true. And Amazon is not responsible for the purchase. Now I have my cell phone in Costa Rica and is useless. Can I get the code in any way? No matter if I have to pay to Verizon for the unlock code. Thank you.

I have two D2Gs on my account and want to disconnect and unlock one of them as my wife would be moving out of US for a long time (atleast a year)
Just got off the phone with VZ cust service. When I asked about the unlocking after I disconnect service on that line, the gentleman I was talking to said he didn't understand what I meant. When I explained to him that the phone comes locked and can't be used on other networks outside of US and since I was disconnecting the service and paying the fee for that I should get to use the phone on any network I want, when travelling, he said VZ doesnt do that. Which I know is not true, verizon does unlock global phones. Can you plz provide me info on how I can cancel service and unlock for use on other networks when travelling outside of US?

I was call to Verizon, and anybody can help me, everyone says " Verizon don't lock any phone. You just have to flash your phone, and change the ROM and kernel to unlock your Droid 2. I hope that he say the true....

Hmmm, I was surprisingly disappointed when I called verizon just a few minutes ago. I asked about it and the person said she could add the global service on to my bill and unlock the verizon sim card for use, it took me at least five to ten minutes just to communicate what it was that I needed. I needed an unlock code as to make my life easier and cheaper by using a non-verizon sim card when roaming. Waited on hold for a while, she came back on and asked me to continue holding, maybe ten minutes later she says that my line of service has not been active long enough. I told her that in the case of my phone number being a line of service, it has been active for more than two years. She replied by telling me "yes, but the phone that you are using now has not..." I bought the phone from a friend... It's not a contract upgrade and I am very disappointed in verizon at the moment. My sister just called her provider and she said they were more than happy to help her out. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I would very much like to stay with verizon. So much for the global part.

I suggest you call back again and see if you can get a more helpful rep. How long have you had the phone, and have you unlocked any other phones "recently". Also state that you need to go abroad soon. And perhaps, if you are willing to follow through, explain that you will have to cancel if this cannot be resolved.

Hi me262,
I just got my brand new Droid 2 Global and realized that it will cost me an arm and a leg in roaming charges to use it overseas. Would you be willing to share the unlock code? Mine is also locked to Verizon.
Your help would be sooo appreciated.
Thanks a ton!

Me262 posted over a year ago (Jan 2011). But, more importantly, the unlock codes are specific to the individual phone, based on the MEID (basically the phone's electronic serial number) so one person's code won't unlock yours.
