Unresponsive Screen Areas AFTER Gingerbread Install

Please help... My Droid 2 does not work properly after downloading and installing the Android 2.3.3 update.

Shortly after the installation, the phone acted like it was being remotely controlled by someonelse.  It was wildly going through different apps and menus and making selections.  It would ignore most of my inputs on the touchscreen or overide them.  After taking out the battery and SD card a few times, it finally stopped behaving like that.  Now, it seems like certain areas of the touch screen are unresponsive or are mapped incorrectly.

1)  When held vertically/upright, on the Dialer screen, none of the middle column "buttons" (2, 5, 8, 0, call/end call) work.  Can't initiate a call this way or hang up.

2)  With the slider out and held horizontally, on the Dialer screen, depressing the 4, 5, and 6 "buttons" result in a 7, 8, or 9 respectively.

3) When held horizontally and the slider in, on the virtual keyboard, pressing a top row "button" (q, w, e, r, t, y ...) acts as if the "button" below it was pressed.

4)  In a scroll list, certain areas of the touch screen do not respond.

5)  Depending on location, icons may not respond to touch input.

I finally did the factory reset, but still have the same touch screen problems.  All of this is getting very frustrating, and I am sorry I upgraded to Gingerbread.  Before this, I had no complaints about my Droid 2.  Would appreciate any help VZW can offer.

I'm having similar problems since the update.

My Droid 2 is having SERIOUS screen issues.  I can barely even use the phone now.  It just cycles through apps, calls random people, and just  generally goes completely crazy.  There are brief periods of time when it acts normal, but boy are they BRIEF.  I've cleaned the screen thoroughly so that's not the problem.  I've factory wiped it twice.  Didn't help at all.   I'm convinced the update had something to do with it.

It is virtually impossible to do anything on it now.

I can definitely understand the screen problems that you are having.  I have had issues with my screen before.  Since you’ve done the master reset please PM me your name and number and I can see what other options we have for you.  Hope this helps.  Thanks.

Dojaro, thanks for sharing your concerns about your device and I can certainly understand why this issue is frustrating you. Since this is happening with just certain parts of the touchscreen, it seems to be a hardware issue with the device. Outside of a factory reset, there is not much troubleshooting for this issue other than replacing the phone. Please send me a PM with your name and number if the device has not already been replaced for you.

Thank you,
