Early this morning my phone said there was an update. I updated it. I found the information on what is included in this update and yet it does not seem to be true. (See: http://support.verizonwireless.com/pdf/system_update/droid_charge.pdf) Yes, it now has facial recognition but it does not seem to have gotten rid of the bloatware. I do not understand why these apps are the on the phone if
A. They don't work
B. They are not used by the user (from the looks at the comment section, it seems that most users do not use them).
Has anyone else received this update and found that the bloatware is still there?
Thanks!
I had the same result. I installed the update this morning and found that it has installed the Face Lock/Unlock, Snap Shot, Photo Editor, and "Get Video Calling". I am unable to find where it installed the Vector Font and all of the Apps it said it was to uninstall are still there.
Okay, I was ablt to figure this one out. The update only looks for apps that have not been updated, so I went to Settings--->Applications--->Manage Applications--->All and clicked on "Uninstall Updates" on all the apps that were still there after the update. You are going to get a uninstall failed message at the end of each but just ignore it. I then rebooted the phone and all the apps VZW said it was going to remove, it did. I hope this helps.
Thanks for the update! It worked...if only now they would get rid of the rest of the bloatware! Glad to see I am not the only one who got this update (my parents have not received it yet).
Glad I could help....and I agree VZW needs to get rid of Lets Golf 2 and Rock Band next.
I had wondered about the apps still being on the phone. I followed your instructions, uninstalled updates to those apps, then rebooted and , bang, they are gone. VZW needs to add this information to the instructions.
Has anyone figured out what the Snap Shot and Vector Font are? Also, I didn't get the Get Video Calling, but I'm not going to complain. I've got Skype.
Snap Shot is a new photo editing program (found under Applications and is called...photo editor..so creative!). Its ok...nothing special (in my opinion). I have no idea what vector font is. I have searched other forums/googled it and nobody knows.
I have noticed that my phone battery is draining 50x quicker than usual. Normal at this point in the day (1:00pm) my phone battery is around 70% (I dont have time to use it at work). Today it is at 51% and the battery is mega hot. This has not happened in a long time! Anyone else having this problem??

The phone might still be re-indexing the media files for the OS and that's why the battery is worse today. If it continues to drain the next few days then reevaluate.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
I, too, wonder why they included Vector Font. A Vector Font's letter, such as a letter B, is a scalable font. In a PC you can put your cursor on the edge of a letters outline, hold the mouse button down and drag the edge of the letter to make it larger or smaller.
For that reason I cannot see why they added Vector Font in this update unless the new Vector Font feature, wherever it is in the phone, might allow us to download and use scalable Vector Fonts.
BTW, I could not find anything to do with "Vector Font" after receiving the download.
Probably the most important feature in any photo editing APP is the ability to make dark (underexposed) areas in a photo lighter, without changing anything else in the photo. You do this so you can see features in the photo that did not have proper exposure. In other words they were to dark. It's to bad "Photo Editor" did not include that feature. All it does is make the entire photo lighter or darker so if you lighten the photo using Photo Editor you also lighten the sky and it goes from blue toward white. Oh well you can't win'em all!!

Curlysf,
I "think" that I remember the following. Try it, it's easy to do. Re-boot your phone 3 times in a row and it "MAY" stop the battery from running down so fast.
