When I first got my Droid X I tried to use the V Cast Manager. It would not work with the droid X at that time so I simply uninstalled it and forgot about it.

VCast Manager only will work with a 32 bit system, such as a desktop computer. It will not work on any laptop which has a 64 bit system. So, if you hook your DX to a laptop running on 64 bits, and the VCast Manager pops up, just click it shut. It's a nuisance, much like a fly buzzing around your head.

I've never been able to get VCAST or the Moto Media Link to work CONSISTENTLY on my 32 bit Windows laptop. I've actually been able to get both of the products to launch like ONCE after a lot of screwing around with settings .. but never sure what I did to get that one or 2 successful launch. I played with the phone settings - trying everything from "Charge Only" to all the other options for the media storage (SD) ... to no avail. I've uninstalled the products, reinstalled, nada. So I finally just gave up and now just plug in the phone and use "MY COMPUTER" to access the SD Card directly to manade music, photos, and videos.
If ANYONE has a detailed "do this" list that they can reproduce a successful launch of the software each and every time, I'm all ears. Not sure why they should be so hard to work with. My previous LG DARE's accompanying s/w worked flawlessly every time I plugged in the phone via the USB. I never had to screw around with the settings in this fashion.
good luck.

Since my laptop is 64 bit, I never bothered with the programs. The first time I plugged my two equipments together, it automatically download and installed the necessary Motorola programs. I have the USB notification on mass storage and use the Droid as a big thumbdisk. Real easy to drag programs from the Droid to the computer and from the computer to the Droid. Have not yet had a problem (and I hope this doesn't jynx me)

Just uninstall MotoConnect app from Add/Remove because the app is pointless.. Also disable autorun option fot Software and Games for CD Drive under Control Panel > AutoPlay >

Im using the 4.7.1 version but I am assuming that the 4.6.0 version should work, did you make sure to disable the autoplay feature as listed because if you do not disable the option it will detect the autorun command on the phones drive and attenpt to run it when phone is plugged into usb, if you disable the auto run on that drive it shouldnt try to reinstall. Also check out my post at http://community.vzw.com/t5/DROID-X-by-Motorola/USB-Connection-Issue/td-p/294666/page/2 that covers the list of steps that I am using now and makes the MotoConnect go away.
Let me know how it goes for you....
