VZW 4G/3G technical issues

This could be old news but I am beginning to wonder if it is a network issue more than the device issue. Check these two links below

.

Also, my Bionic keeps loosing data connection when I in my home area (Chicago suburbs). Recently I went to Las Vegas on vacation for 10 days and I did not loose my data connection even once. Now I am back home and the data connection keeps loosing again few times a day though I noticed some improvement now. I did NOT get the OTA update yet and I have the original software on it, like it was on Sep 8th when I bought it.

I have wondered the same thing. I was traveling not too long ago to a different state, and during my 2 days there I decided to turn on the Hotspot feature. It worked great the entire time. However, I live in a very good 4G area, so this is very odd. If it is the network, then the network is not working anywhere near me, not outside, not in my house, not in my office, not at the gym, not in my car...the network can't be that bad everywhere?

Its always been a network issue...every 4G device (TB, Charge, Bionic) Ive ever owned could never keep a data connection, and I experienced the same as you....

Phoenix, Az it ALWAYS drops off

Los Angeles, not as much

Santa Barbara, hardly

Las Vegas, not once (dropped to 3G in the hotel, but never dropped of completely)

Yes, I have noticed significant problems in my area also.

Toledo Ohio, and south east Michigan,  many data disconnects, SLOW speed 10-40 bps. No that's not a typo, did not forget the k in kbps. Three different towers in Toledo, 4 different towers in SE Mich. all same  slow speeds or data drops.  Both my Incredible, and my wife's, Incredible 2.  And before any techies say *228 did that multiple times, both option 1 and 2.  Factory reset phone twice, and even loaded cyanogen mod on the incredible, still slow.  Went to Ann Arbor on Saturday, 12/10/11, consistent 800-1300 kbps. So seems def. location based.  They just rolled out 4G  in this area, my guess is they provisioned a lot of the 3G data bandwidth to 4G.  Using both the speedtest and open signal app.
