A replacement will cost $569.00. Period.
If you have the Assurion (not Verizon) insurance, it will cost $89.00. Granted, it wil be a refurbed phone, but the math still does it for me.
Yeah, its worth it. I''ve used it twice. And the refurbed phones I got were nearly indistinguishable from new units.

i always opted out of the insurance with my previous phones except for the x i got. my last phone was an env touch and i would have to leave it on a window sill attached to an overhead garage door because thats where i got the best signal in a small town that still has poor signal reception. i forgot it was there and opened the door and backed out a town owned international dump truck right over the touch and just anihiliated it. I would like to add that the people at the verizon store replaced my phone that was destroyed by my forgetfulness at a cost of $50.00. I gave the replacement to my girlfriend and when i got the x and when the salesperson asked me if i wanted insurance she gave me a copy of the contract to read and it covers accidental damage so i went for it and hope i never need it but i`ll be glad i do if i`m ever that forgetful again.

The insurance is most definitely worth it. My wife and I have replaced 3 to 4 phones over the last 5 years, for a variety of reasons. Each time I contact Assurian, and a new phone is shipped to us via FedEx overnight. Most of the time, the replacement phones have been brand-new phones, not refurbished.
Considering what the actual replacement cost of each phone would have been without insurance, $50 is a real bargain...
Especially as my new Droid X retails for over $500.00...
Do yourself a favor and buy the insurance ( 4 to 6 dollars a month), because accidents do happen...
Hope this helps...

Considering that you'll have to shell out almost $600, yeah, I'd say it's worth it. Yes, I do have it and hope I never have to use it. What a pain putting a new phone into the phone you want.

It's definitely worth it. When I ordered my Droid X in store, the guy said for an extra $8 per month I would get to replace my lost, stolen, broken Droid X for $80 instead of the full retail which is like $579. It's not a bad deal if any of you are clumsy like me.

It's like any other insurance, stinks paying for it if you never need it but you will be glad you have it if you do.

The VZW TEC plan is worth it. It gives you assurion protection plus an additional 1 yr warranty on your device to bring you to a 2 yr warranty period.
Now as for the Assurion insurance, sure they are a little high, and some people can get a wireless phone coverage from their local Insurance company. Unfortunately not all Insurance companies cover this in all areas. Last I looked State Farm was looking for about $40 for a 1 yr coverage on the X, but was not available in my area.

Check out this thread for other opinions---->Insurance Worth It??
What I said from the thread..................
I have never have siged up for insurance for the whole time I have been with Verizon (which has been 8 or 9 years). Only one time did I damage a phone, but it was still useable. Even if I did have insurance at the time I probably wouldn't have got a new phone. Simply because I was in love with that LG device.
Personally I don't like spending the extra money and like to save. If i don't land up breaking a phone then that whole time my money just went down the drain. You can do the math to figure how much you have just wasted. I think that Verizon should refund you that money or just make a insurance a one time fee. Even my phone did break, I would just switch back to an older Verizon phone or ask anyone if they have a spare. Insurance= not worth it (just my view )

just curious of the insurance you choose for 7.99, when picking your plan options... will cover a phone replacement if lost or damaged?

if you have insurance, insurance covers:
- Lost/stolen phone
- Water or liquid damage
- Physical damage done to the phone (like dropping it on the concrete & it smashing)
