I have poor reception with Verizon at my office and home in Seminole, FL. It was bad with my Treo, but now is worse with my Droid X, it is even worse. I've updated my roaming programming per tech support, but it is still terrible. Verizon says they can't do anything about it. I pay them over $500 a month for the 8 or 9 business and personal phones, but apparently the Bay Pines/South Seminole area is not worthy of improvements. Anybody else having these problems? Maybe if we team together we can get their attention.

It sounds like you just have a low signal area. Sometimes it's not all VZW's fault. When Carriers want to add new towers there are so many political hurdles and restrictions that State/County/City Boards put in the way. It may help to check your County records and see if VZW is attempting to add to a tower or build a new one. These documents are usual available to the public upon request years before construction begins.

Are you paid by Verizon to try to diffuse realistic critiques on their failure to provide service? I just mentioned my area because it is right at the crux of three communities, Seminole, Madeira Beach, and the Western edge of one of the largest cities in Florida, St. Petersburg. How about the South end of Seminole Lake, or the area East of the Skyway bridge? I can probably find other areas where they don't support their advertised great coverage. I'm just asking for support from other businesses and private users in the area to chime in to force them to backup their bull. Do you really want to see their committment to service? Take a look at the pedestals for land lines that are bent over and wrapped up with tape and black garbage bags along Seminole Blvd. In my opinion, they are ignoring the old POTS (plain old tel system) lines because these lines are going away in the very near future. The big conglomerates like Verizon only pay attention to the bottom line. The only time they really "care" about the end-user is when enough of us say, "This is crap, and you need to fix it." I pay enough for decent service to expect decent service. I don't live in the boondocks, I live in Seminole. Really? You are trying to tell me that the county commission or the Public Service Commission is keeping them from adding a transceiver on a local tower. Come out from behing the company skirt.

Okay, dude and yer 2 posts, here's a non-company answer, no skirts involved....
How about using some common sense and your powers of observance (which seem somewhat limited at the moment) and realize that this is a user forum. Not only that, but it's a nationwide, and maybe even worldwide forum and it's unlikely that there are a lot of users from your area here.
How about you do some legwork in your area, beat the streets and visit those businesses and private users in your area and form a user's group to approach Verizon with your issues instead of sitting behind the safety and convenience of a computer keyboard issuing edicts to people that may or may not be affected by the same problem you have or have the ability to do anything for you. Oh, and when you guys get together, don't bombard this USER FORUM with a municipal issue that needs to be taken to Verizon'd corporate headquarters or the representatives for your area. Like I said, man up and do the legwork with the appropriate people to the appropriate place.
Sound like a Verizon skirt now, dude?
No bulls were harmed in the making of this post (but the hipwaders certainly came in handy).

I could fire back a couple witty/snappy responses, but honestly I've already wasted enough of my own time on you.

Gee, now I feel bad. Seriously.
Here's a link to a cell tower location site (which you may have already dug up, since you seem to be doing your homework)...
http://www.cellreception.com/search.php?zip=33772&page=1
It should be your area, but if not, you can search.
Doesn't look like many towers, although this site can't be relied upon 100% due to whom owns the tower that the antenna is actually on.
The Network Extender might be an option, but it's not reasonable to expect an entire community to rely on network extenders for mobile phone service (with respect to Shenika, of course). Otherwise, you need to pursue the idea of a group to approach the city council or board of supervisors to make sure that an ordinance isn't blocking some tower plans somewhere. Then proceed from there with Verizon on the signal matter.
Good luck, Geri O

No problem, we all have our bad days, I do appreciate the apology. If you cannot find the cell tower location, those county records I was mentioning also have the info on exactly where the local towers are placed, and why type of radios are on them. A request through the Freedom of Information Act will generally get you this information for a couple of cents per sheet copied.

After reviewing your city and state I show good coverage in that area. I have provided a link to a Network Extender that we offer to pick up better signal for your device.

How is your signal coverage outside of your home and business?
There are a lot of factors that hinder radio signals. Terrain, construction of buildings, even weather affects the signal strength.
Looking at the coverage map, Seminole FL has full 3g/4g coverage. So Verizon thinks that they have the area blanketed with signal.
What are the construction materials of your home and office? If they are contruction of steel or concrete, those materials are ver hard on radio signals. Also, where in your house can make a difference. Inside my house, the interior rooms have less signal that exterior rooms. I also have bad/dirty electricity in my house, which also affects the strength of signal. Also if you have tall buildings in the area (tall is relative, if there is a building between you and the nearest tower in your line of sight) will also degrade the signal
Another factor is how far away is your nearest tower. I was told by a Verizon rep that the nearest tower to my house is over 3 miles away. Radio signals deteiorate over distance. When we have a good rainstorm, or heavy snowstorm, my signal decreases in my house.
Coverage maps show what coverage one can expect, but that is under the best conditions, outside, and not around any buildings, trees, power substations etc, but it is not a guarentee of coverage for anyplace on the map. Verizons small print on the bottom of the coverage map states.
These Coverage Locator maps depict predicted and approximate wireless coverage. The coverage areas shown do not guarantee service availability, and may include locations with limited or no coverage. Even within a coverage area, there are many factors, including customer’s equipment, terrain, proximity to buildings, foliage, and weather that may impact service. Some of the Coverage Areas include networks run by other carriers, the coverage depicted is based on their information and public sources, and we cannot ensure its accuracy.
No I do not work for Verizon, I am just a long time customer. I also have studied radio theory and application over the years.
