Verizon is double dipping - iAnything is cheaper than Droid

I was ready - and excited and ready to upgrade from what I consider to be an awesome phone - my Voyager.

In fact, I was in the store, new Droid in my hand until the bomb dropped - an extra $30 a month! I already have a 2nd data plan for my laptop card and I'm not about to plunk down another $30 on top of my $160 premium a month - just to have the Droid. The I read when teathering does come out there will be an extra charge for that.

One thing Apple does have right is the end-all price point. Anything over $150 a month for mobile connectivity is not business ready - its luxury. Luxury - in this economy isn't something I'll try and get past my expense department!

Sorry Droid - looks like I have to go iAnything.

ATT requires a data plan for iphone to the tune of $29.99 per month. And if you had a data card on ATT and an iphone, you'd STILL have to pay for both. Sorry, no "double dipping." Two devices, two different types of service. Where does the problem part come in?

I'd read up on some facts before making such a bold statement.

Fact - adding $30 monthly to my connectivity budget won't justify any phone with more bells and whistles. If Verizon wants my piece of market share back, its not going to cost me more money. I want it - but I don't need it.

I'd like to know what Apple has "right".  It's $30 for the data plan for any smartphone on the AT&T network, iphone included.  The iphone doesn't even tether.  If it did, AT&T's data plan plus tethering is $60.

We either need a new section or topic for whining that we can rack up to 6000 posts like the Omnia 2 thread.  Look, people, complain all you want, but don't blast Verizon.  AT&T is doing the same thing.  T-Mobile and Sprint bring better price points with the trade off of poorer coverage.  Figure out what you can deal with and go that route, but, please, spare us another post about cost of service.

So you want to segregate those with differing opinions? Its a forum.

I don't infer people are lemmings just because they fall for the hype. So I do consider the "whining" reference simply evidence there is no real answer here - just more hype.
